Unveiling Grenada's newest Underwater Sculpture Park

Prepare to be swept away by the latest aquatic wonder to grace Caribbean waters. Just off the shores of Carriacou, sister island to Grenada, a mesmerising experience awaits at the brand-new underwater sculpture park, ‘World Adrift’ which opens this October.

Created by the visionary artist Jason deCaires Taylor, this new installation features an awe-inspiring fleet of 30 small boats, each adorned with lifelike sculptures of local children from Carriacou and Petite Martinique. But these aren’t ordinary sculptures; they are crafted from marine stainless steel and a more eco-friendly, pH-neutral green cement. Resembling paper origami boats, they symbolise the delicate balance of our ocean ecosystems.

⭐ JAPAN ⭐

A bullet train zipping past Mount Fuji at 200mph is one of the most iconic images of Japan. In October 2024, the bullet train - or Shinkansen - celebrated 60 years since its first foray on the fabled Tokaido route from Tokyo to Osaka, via Kyoto. The route opened up the country to those wanting easy (and faster) access to Japan’s many facets, from futuristic cityscapes to traditional spa retreats in the mountains.

With a recent spate of luxury and boutique hotel openings, there's more than ever to attract discerning travellers to Japan. For now, let's celebrate one of the world's great travel icons...

When the Shinkansen, Japan’s renowned bullet train, first took to the tracks ahead of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the world had never seen anything like it. The first Hikari 1 Super Express to take to the Tokaido Line took just four hours to travel the route from Tokyo to Osaka, with a top speed of 130mph.

Named after the road that connected Kyoto and Tokyo, the Tokaido Line soon became a byword for Japanese speed and efficiency. Today, it can reach speeds of up to 200mph, shuttling passengers from the capital to Osaka in just two and a half hours over a distance of 319 miles.

I spent 3 months in Cairns, learning to become a dive master, which involved spending a whole month on a livaboard dive boat. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
