Happy Independence Day, Ghana!!

On this memorable day, we want to salute all our national heroes and heroines... Without them, Ghana wouldn't be where it is now.

We chanced on an African-diasporan at the Cape Coast Castle consulting Nana (The Chief Preist, Castle Shrine) about her return back home and seeking the blessings of our ancestors.
It is always a surreal experience witnessing the culture and heritage of the motherland.

A big thank you to these gorgeous African Queens & for choosing us. Touring the city of Accra with them was simply anazing. They had lots of questions to ask, plus they gave me some photography and modeling lessons.
Looking forward to having my spirited sisters & back to the motherland. Please, don't forget your basic Twi and Ga. ✊😁

Some 400 years ago, these bamboo trees were cut and used to scrub the bodies of slaves to be exhibited. Our ancestors bled from bruises caused by the rough nature of the bamboo sticks. In such horrible physical conditions, they were compelled to exercise to prove that they were in good physical states. After which their bodies were balmed with palm oil to make them attractive for the slave market.

The Black Star Square plays host for most major events in Ghana. Events such as independence day parade, religious events, musical concerts, and traditional festivals. It hosted Queen Elizabeth II on 6th March, 1961. Monuments you can find there include the Independence arch, Unknown Soldier and Black Star Gate.

Black Star Square is located between 28th February Road and Accra's southern coastline.

A Young African King professing his love for his wife at their engagement ceremony through a traditional dance called "from tom from". His dance was interpreted as "amongst all the women present at this ceremony, I chose you (bride) because you mean the world to him" .
You can't get this anywhere but GHANA.

You've got to have heart and character to do this. Such an adventurous experience at the Paga crocodile pond.

Our tour guide was the best and I dare say they have got some supernatural powers. They literally communicate with the crocodiles.

Anyway, this is a place to visit when you visit Ghana. You are guaranteed to have an amazing experience.

The Adomi bridge is located in Atimpoku in the Eastern Region of Ghana which is located along the Volta River. It is accessible from any part of Ghana. A trip from the north of Ghana and one will have to go through the eastern corridor and finally use the Adomi Bridge. Accra the capital of Ghana is about 130 kilometres from Atimpoku and Tema is also 100 kilometres away.

Christianity meets tradition/culture... Who are we as Africans? What sets us apart? What does music do to our souls?

Watching these women display phenomenal skills on those traditional drums was awesome.

Let's not forget our culture. It gives us our identity.

His monument sits in the heart of the CBD of Accra. One might ask, who is King Tackie Tawiah I?

Abiasuma King Tackie Tawiah l was the Ga Mantse who reigned during the β€œGolden years” of Accra (1862-1902) and still acclaimed as the most illustrious, progressive and enterprising of all the Ga kings (Ayittey, 2006). It was he who was described by Dr. A. Boi Quartey-Papafio, β€œas a fulcrum-figure in the modern history of the Ga-Dangme” and a stalwart whose reign saw the establishment of Accra as the capital of Ghana in 1877. His era saw countless skilled young artisans, including Tetteh Quarshie who later brought viable COCOA into the Gold Coast after the Dutch and the Swiss. His reign also witnessed the translation of the Bible into Gain 1865. The King was also a warrior and was involved in the Anlo Wars of 1860. For his long reign, he gained the title β€œAbiasuma”, which means the β€œKing Still Reigns.”

The Central Business District (CBD) of Accra houses over 8,000 business, which includes banks, libraries, courts, post offices, malls, markets, tourist sites, civil and public service buildings, different levels of SME's.
The most popular markets in Accra are Makola, Agbogbloshi and Kaneshie market.
Here you'll find hawkers displaying their products on their head, forearms, shoulders and tables. It is a sight to beheld. At any point of your visit to the market, kindly be alert when you hear anybody exclaim "AGOOOOO", which means excuse me.
Prices of goods and services are relatively cheaper here. The best place to shop in Accra and bargain prices fairly. .

The spirits of our ancestors are so alive here. We learned a lot about the Trans-Alantic Slave trade. The documentaries we watched about the Slave trade were insightful.
The highlight of our tour here were the rituals performed at the "Last bath" and "First bath of Return" post.
Every African-Diasporan must feel this very humbling, insightful and spiritual experience.
