Forts and Castles were infamous sites in Ghana during the slave trade era. Ghana can boast of 3 Castles and 29 Forts. Forts and Castle served as transitional places for slaves and residences for colonial masters and their families. These were built by European traders from Portugal, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Denmark and Britain. It can be said that all 32 Forts and Castles can be found along the coastal shores of Ghana. The initial intent for these buildings was to serve as trading points or ports for goods. However, trade in humans came into being, which gave birth to the dark slave trade era.#travelghana #thingstodoinaccra #travelblackfeed #explorewithabena #visitghana #resturant #travelpreneur #travelbloggers #blacktraveljourney #ghana #restaurant #seeGhana #vacationinghana #destinationGhana #seeghana #ussherfort #visitvolta #travel #vacations #zanzibar #zanzibarbeach

Welcome to the Heritage Month. A month filled with educative Ghanaian history and culture . Welcome to my birth month and welcome to a new month. A month of Freedom and history. What best way to start than with the Independence Square. Our Statue of Independence ...The Independence Ach represents Ghana’s struggle for independence from imperial British rule and honours fallen soldiers who died for the course. The square was built by the first president of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah in the year 19961. The square is now used for big national events like the swearing-in of presents, Independence Day march, Eid celebration, military parade, global concert, and other national events. It is surrounded by other iconic national buildings like the Accra sports stadium, National Conference Center, and Parliament House. Climbing to the top of the arch was scary, the steps were short and more. But I was awarded a stunning view of the capital when we got to the top.
