Assin Manso will host the 2021 Emancipation Day celebration on 1st August as it has done for the last 22 years since the introduction of the celebration in 1998. For the second time due to COVID 19 restrictions, the durbar of Chiefs for the celebration will be held inside our facility. As usual, our site will be ready to receive all the guests including the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed who will be celebrating his first Emancipation Day as Minister for the sector.

PANAFEST and Emancipation Celebrations are here again. From 21st July - 1st August in Ghana. Watch out for our exciting Tour Packages for the festival, the site and images from previous editions.

PANAFEST is the Pan African Historical Festival which started in 1992. It is a biennial festival promoting Pan Africanism through Arts & Culture in Ghana.

Emancipation Day is celebrated on 1st August every year in Ghana since it was introduced in 1998. It commemorates the significant date of 1st August 1834 when slavery and slave trade was formally abolished in most of the British Empire.

We would like to inform our cherished tourists, visitors, patrons and stakeholders that your favourite ancestral and heritage tourist site, Assin Manso Slave River Site will be closed to the general public from 10 - 11th June 2021. This is to enable us to undertake some emergency works. The site will reopen for normal business on Saturday, 12th June. We regret any inconvenience caused.
