MH Bland have once again offset the expected annual emissions from all our MH Bland Marine Services vessels. 🫡

This demonstrates MH Bland's continued commitment to decarbonisation and neutralising its environmental impact through the contribution and support of green and sustainable projects.

This year we have contributed to a SOLAR POWER PROJECT in Morocco. Currently, the major power in the region is dominated by fossil fuel. The purpose of this project is to install solar power plants with a total capacity of 70MW, which is expected to supply around 250 GWh per year clean energy to the Moroccan electricity grid.

Project benefits:

✅ Reduced carbon emissions 150,272 tCO2e per year
✅ Communities exposed to fewer air pollutants
✅ Cleaner solar electricity
✅ Development of local skills in manufacturing, construction and operation of power plants
✅ Support in education, research in the solar sector

Today we celebrate International Day of Happiness, a movement towards a happier, more sustainable, and equitable world!

At MH Bland, we acknowledge that fostering happiness and compassion holds equal significance in the professional realm as it does in one's personal life, and we focus on people’s wellbeing as one of our company core values.

In order to promote wellness in the workplace, a few MH Bland team members who are passionate about wellbeing participated in a Mental Health First Aid England training course to become certified Mental Health First Aiders at Clubhouse Gibraltar , where they learnt about the importance of understanding, empathising, and guiding individuals experiencing poor mental health toward resources and professional help they require.

This is just one of our initiatives to reduce stigma on mental health issues and promote a workplace culture of understanding and support, ensuring our employees can remain happy and comfortable at work, and we look forward to more MH Bland team members becoming certified Mental Health First Aiders in the near future!

Today is Global Recycling Day! ♻️

The recycling industry not only employs 1.6 million people globally, but also reduces yearly CO2 emissions by 700 million tonnes!

Here at MH Bland, as one of our sustainability initiatives, we've introduced bins across our offices that help us do our part in separating waste. This not only facilitates recycling, but also helps us understand how we can reduce our waste output as a company.

MH Bland are proud to announce that, as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we have have for a second time invested in over 1000L of HVO to use in our l**e oil barge, the Dragonfish.

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) has an array of logistical and environmental benefits – it’s a fossil-free paraffinic diesel made from certified waste materials, therefore HVO supports the circular economy and helps to reduce net CO2 greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%!

Exploring alternative fuels such as HVO is just one step in MH Bland’s decarbonisation journey, and we continue to investigate different initiatives to reduce our carbon emissions and strive for a brighter, greener future!

We look forward to continue working together with Gib Oil and World Fuel Services in reducing our carbon footprint.

Today is Wear Red Day, and the team are proud to wear red in support of the Gibraltar Cardiac Association with the purpose of raising awareness on heart disease.

Did you know that since 1997, the number of people living with heart and circulatory diseases globally has doubled?

Here at MH Bland, we encourage our employees to take care of themselves and live healthy lives, and we see today as a great opportunity to share this with the rest of the community. Here are some tips to keep a healthy heart:

❣️Eat a healthy, balanced diet and stay hydrated.
❣️Get moving! Stay active and aim for 30 to 60 minutes of daily activity.
❣️Quit smoking and stay away from second-hand smoke.
❣️Manage stress – take breaks to take care of yourself and your body.
❣️Get quality sleep – aim for 7-9 hours of sleep a night.

We are pleased to announce that MH Bland have purchased their first electric vehicle! 🌿

Here at MH Bland, we are determined to become as sustainable as possible. As one of our sustainability initiatives, we have organised an electric motorbike test drive with E-Gear and have taken action by purchasing our first electric vehicle! 🏍️

Non-electric vehicles are damaging to the natural environment due to the emissions of greenhouse gases and small particles however electric motorbikes on the other hand are a clean and efficient mode of transport, reducing carbon emissions by at least 60% and causing no negative impacts on our air quality! 🌎
