Thank you for inviting the community Mike, it was such a delightful evening last night. The food was lovely of course, and the best of all were the happy faces and the feeling of closeness, that we enjoy and love the same things.

Seakayaking and hiking combi trip in Nuuk Fiord, with Maligiaq Padilla leading the kayaking, and partnering with Two Ravens for hiking. Intimate knowledge of the nature goes without saying (but let me say it again😉). The special parts are experiences like the stories with the local guides who grew up in this nature, and the foraging on the way which gives a taste of not only our fresh food but also our way of life.

Siorapaluk is the northernmost natural settlement on our planet. There are a handful of towns and stations further north that are inhabited year round, but here we have sustained ourselves for millennia, from the surrounding sea and land.

The sun stays up in the sky for 4 months of the year. No cars, the main means of transportation in this season is dogs. Life is determined by the wind, tide, sea ice, and movement of wildlife. It’s soul cleansing experience to tune in to the local rythm.

In Qaanaaq the skills of hunting by kayak and harpoon are alive and used by every hunter.

Narwhal are super sensitive to sound, thus the silent hunting vessel. The harpoon head is connected to a sealskin float, so prey that are hit are never lost.

Locals will tell you that this is simply more efficient than motorboat and rifle.
