Our Story
Villa Amelia offers the perfect location for a self-catering beach and cultural holiday all in one. Set in a small complex of villas in the village of Asini with views across the valley to the mountain backdrop, it is just 1.5km from the sandy beaches of Tolo, and with a plethora of cultural sites to see in the local area.
The villa is built on three levels and at the entrance level has a comfortable living room/dining area, a fully-equipped kitchen, WC and access to the main balcony and to the courtyard ( absolutely ideal for small children). Upstairs are three double bedrooms (one en-suite) and one bathroom. All the upstairs bedrooms have mosquito nets and air-conditioning. The flooring is made from Cycladic stone to give an island feel to the rooms. Down at the Pool Level is the door to the independent studio (4th bedroom). This is very spacious and includes a small shower room and kitchenette with tea/coffee making facilities, a microwave and fridge - perfect for those couples who wish to have a little privacy away from the rest of the party from time to time!
Outside: The 35m squared pool and garden area has sun loungers for 8 people and provides areas for both sunbathing and shady relaxation. Here you will find banana trees, white Jasmin and oleanders. The courtyard at the back of the house is fully enclosed and has an olive tree, Mediterranean herbs and geraniums. The Barbecue is on wheels and can moved to which ever part of the house you prefer to cook in.
There are balconies off the living room and bedrooms. The living room balcony has a large teak table with seating for 10 people from where you can sit, relax and take in the changing colours of the valley views.
The price charged for the villa includes all linen and towels. We do have some beach towels though recommend that you bring some with you. The property has the linen/towels changed once a week
In the small WC on the ground floor you will find the washing machine
With easy access from Athens, Villa Amelia is an ideal base for all times of the year and is great for both families and couples. In High Season the pool area is a wonderful environment to relax in and the beaches are just a short drive away.
A visit out of High Season can still allow you to enjoy some sun but without the very high temperatures that can prevent the enjoyment of visits to some of the amazing archaeological sites.
We have tried to ensure that our villa feels like home and we hope that we provide for your every need. For the children there are toys, games and a range of DVDs; for the adults there are books, sun loungers, the indispensible Wi-Fi...... and bottle openers! The shady enclosed courtyard is perfect for little ones to play in safely, allowing parents to relax and wind down.
At the end of the day, prepare your bottle of wine, some fresh local olives and delicious feta and enjoy the changing colours of the valley as you relax on the large balcony off the living room.
LOCATION: The Peloponnese never fails to surprise us with its abundance of historical sights, natural beauty and clear blue waters. The nearby resort of Tolo offers a perfect location for days of sunbathing and relaxed evenings eating in the tavernas set at the edge of the sea. Nafplion, the first capital of Greece, is truly beautiful and needs to be visited several times in order to discover all its special spots. The little shops offer many interesting artistic items and a morning spent wandering through the narrow streets is essential. Nafplion also has some lovely tavernas and fish restaurants for al fresco evening dining. Don't forget a visit to Palamidi Castle to get a real sense of history and to take in some breathtaking views. The Theatre of Epidavros, Mycenae and Argos are all nearby and should definitely be included in your days out.
Here are some of our favourite things to do:
1. Enjoying a bottle of wine on the balcony and watching the view.
2. Spending the morning on the small pebbly beach of Asini where we snorkle and then having a delicious lunch at the taverna above the beach
3. Hiring a small boat and exploring the islands off the coast of Tolo. Take a picnic and lots of water. Has to be done!!
4. Going to Nafplion a couple of hours before dinner. We have a walk around the shops, stop for a pre-dinner drink near the sea looking at Bourtzi Castle and then find a taverna for some wonderful "mezes".
5. Eating at a taverna ON the beach in Tolo. The kids are free to play on the sand whilst the adults enjoy the view.
