If your heart tells you to do it, don’t think twice about climbing the path to Drakolimni (Dragon Lake) of Tymfi. You can explore Drakolimni with a day hike that usually starts in the village of Papigo and takes up to 8 hours in total. Once you arrive at the lake, filled with newts and other amphibians, you will enjoy views of the Aoos Gorge and Mt Smolikas, where there is another Dragon Lake. Legend has it the lakes were created by dragons throwing rocks at each other from one mountain peak to another.
