Last minute island escapes!

If there’s one thing all of our walking holidays have in common, it’s a feeling of happy exhaustion as you go to bed at night – knowing there’s more fun to come tomorrow.

Every morning we set off for a walk along the mountainous trails offering stunning views to the sea, we reach a beach to cool down and then we enjoy a home-cooked meal at the local tavern. Every evening our small group sits out on the terrace together watching the sunset, enjoying a drink and sharing stories about the day’s exploits.

We were very pleased with the your organization of our trip- everything; the trekking, transportation, lodging was well planned and went without a problem and made this a very enjoyable & stress free holiday.

Staying in and visiting the small towns/villages in the mountains, particularly off season was really nice as it allowed us to see what life is like a bit off the beaten path. All of the local hotel/guest house owners were warm, pleasant and helpful. The accommodations in the mountains and Naxos were perfect for us.

I really don't have any complaints or even suggestions- it was a "5 Star" trip (I did leave you a 5 star review on Trip Advisor).

"I really enjoyed it! It opened my eyes to Greek life on the Cyclades, history & life style. I can recommend doing a tour with
Annie at NoFootPrint. Touring with a Greek guide like Annie gives you an authentic and interesting and experience that is so
hard to find when you are a tourist travelling solo, unless you happen to have contacts in the Country. It was like being on
holiday with friends.

The Pindus (or Pindos) Mountains is one of the mightiest and impressive mountain ranges in Greece, stretching from near the Greek-Albanian border, along Epirus and Macedonia regions in northern Greece, all the way down to the north of the Peloponnese. Geologically, it is an extension of the Dinaric Alps, which dominate the western region of the Balkan Peninsula.

Its highest peak is, at 2,637m, second in height only to Mt. Olympus. But Smolikas is just one of several; this great range also includes the mountains Tymphi, Vasilitsa, Grammos, Peristeri, Agrafa and Tzoumerka. This grand mountain range stretches across 160 kilometers, earning it the nick-name “the spine of Greece.”

“Despite or maybe because of the rain the hiking in the Peloponnese was really special. I did not have a good sense for what the topography and richly forested landscapes would be like. They were profoundly beautiful and really quite diverse. The deep verdant forests with all sorts of fungi, mosses smells and the beautiful vistas in gorge on the trail to Dimitsana were so rich.

I also liked the villages we visited and stayed. They were each unique and special in their own ways - but all were extraordinarily beautiful. Our hosts and almost all the folks we met along the way could not have been more friendly and helpful. "It was really nice to have you and Christine available on WhatsApp. That helped a lot. The hotels were both good. Great location. Very nice people in both...

Hikes were really nice. The paper route descriptions were very good, also nice to get some more background information. It definitely helped to have the GPX files when in doubt where to go...

Maybe it would have been nice to have 1 day extra on Naxos to explore it by car and visit some of the beaches. If we would do the same trip again, we would have skipped one of the Naxos hike to go exploring by car.

Highlight was probably Mt. Zas on Naxos.

"I loved everything about our hiking experience. Loved the guides. Daphne & Yiannis were perfect. Nicholas, too. They fit into our group very well. We bonded easily & had much fun. Lots of laughing. We learned a lot from them...

Everyday was different which was great… Loved that the hike felt more like a Greece immersion with not a lot of tourists & lots of exposure to the local Greeks & culture. Lena’s location was a gem… The gorge was amazing, too. The last day was incredible, too. Actually, everything, everyday was wonderful!

"Absolutely and would recommend the holiday on these grounds. We used local hotels, tavernas and transport and the
company owner is Greek. I learnt a lot more about the islands, even though I have visited them before."

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
"Good boots and walking poles, comfortable clothing. The walking conditions are quite different from those in the UK, and have particular challenges, which I'm quite familiar with having travelled a lot in Greece. I'm 70 so did try to improve my fitness
beforehand."
