This has been a very unique Easter as I had an extraordinary Good Friday experience visiting the remarkable Meteora Monasteries in Greece. These truly one-of-a-kind monasteries, perched atop towering rocky pillars, appear to be suspended between the heavens and the earth. I was fortunate to attend the epitaph service at one of the monasteries – an incredibly moving ceremony.

The epitaph is an embroidered cloth icon depicting Christ's body being taken down from the cross. As solemn chants echoed through the candlelit church, the epitaph was carried in a procession around the nave. It was a profound and beautiful way to commemorate Good Friday in this sacred, seemingly gravity-defying place. Meteora is undoubtedly one of the world's most unique and spiritually powerful destinations. I feel blessed to have witnessed this ancient ritual, steeped in centuries of tradition and faith.

Chania is a town where different civilizations have flourished throughout the centuries. Strolling around the Old Town’s maze-like alleys with the beautiful Venetian mansions, the fountains and the churches will guide you through well-preserved historical monuments.
Chania is built on the area of Minoan Kidonia, at the end of the homonym gulf between Akrotiri and Onicha peninsulas. It was the former capital city of Crete (from 1847 until 1972). Nowadays, it is the second largest city of Crete after Heraklion and capital of the homonym prefecture.

Akrotiri is one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean. The settlement was one of the major cities and ports of the Aegean during the Middle and Late Bronze Age (20th-17th century BC). It was a crowded city of 20 acres with a remarkable social structure, public roads, sewerage, sanitary engineering, multi-storey buildings.
