An Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is a pre-approved travel permit required for certain foreign nationals traveling to or transiting through the UK without a visa. It is electronically linked to the traveler's passport, costs £10 per applicant, and remains valid for two years, allowing multiple visits within that period. Applications can be submitted via the UK ETA app or online at GOV.UK.

Who Needs an ETA?
From January 8, 2024: Eligible non-European nationals must obtain an ETA before travel.
From March 5, 2025: Eligible European nationals can start applying.
From April 2, 2025: An ETA becomes mandatory for European nationals traveling to the UK.
When is an ETA Required?
Visits up to 6 months for tourism, family visits, business, or short-term study.
Visits up to 3 months under the Creative Worker visa concession.
Transit through the UK (except for airside transits at Heathrow between international.
