This month is dedicated to LGBTQ+ people. We promised to help them until people start loving each other like dogs do. For this reason, today we present to you .

According to the Postsecondary National Policy Institute, while the LGBTQ+ student population in colleges and universities is growing steadily, many gay, le***an, q***r, trans, intersex and gender non-conforming college students still face forms of discrimination and bullying in school.

The Point Foundation, one of the only LGBTQ+ nonprofits that offers college scholarships to LGBTQ+ high school seniors, aims to make campuses more welcoming and accessible for every student. The Point Foundation’s college scholarship fund helps incoming LGBTQ+ students who demonstrate financial need, academic achievement and a history of active community leadership and service to pay for their education.

Kythera is situated far from the rest of the Ionian islands, but there are several ways to follow in order to reach this destination with your dog.

Let's explore some of the ways to reach the island:

🚢 You can reach Kythera from the port of Neapolis on the southern coast of Peloponnese. Also, ferries to Kythera depart 3 times a week from Gythio in Peloponnese and Kissamos in Crete, both are available once per week only during summer.
From Athens, there are only a few direct routes from the port of Piraeus to Kythera, which are carried out only during summer and only once per week.

✈️ Kithera Island National Airport "Alexandros Aristotelous Onassis" receives domestic flights from Athens all year round and the trip lasts about 1 hour. During summer, some extra flights are carried out between Kythera and some Ionian islands, like Zakynthos, Kefalonia and Corfu. Domestic flights are easy, but make sure to bear your pet's health booklet, and book in prior.

As a general tip, always plan ahead and inform about your favourite four-legged travel companion, to ensure the best possible treatment.

At Woof Together, we believe that small steps can lead to big changes. That's why we strive to use recycled and recyclable materials in our packaging, while researching new ways to harness the power of nature itself.

In the past year, we reduced about 80% of our non-sustainable dog bedding materials with natural products, such as natural caoutchouc sheets, we redesigned our dog waste bags with biodegradable materials and recyclable packaging, we replaced plastic dog toys with ones made from rope, and we researched for non-toxic cleaning products and reusable cleaning tools that don't need energy.

We love being a part of the change. Because we care for you, your pet, the planet.

We've seen some great beaches in the last few weeks! 🌊

Greece is famous for its dreamy beaches, but you might be surprised to learn that dogs are welcome at many of them. Greece has a long-standing tradition of treating all animals (and people, for that matter) like family and this includes the pets we bring with us.

If you want to spend the day on the beach with your dog, here are some safety tips that you should keep in mind:

🦮 Pets are allowed at unorganized beaches (sunbeds-free), but always on a leash!

🏊‍♀️ Pets are not allowed to enter the sea when there are other swimmers present, so remote beaches are the best choice.

🩱 When it comes to private beaches, like organized beach bars, it is within the jurisdiction of the business operating the private beach, whether it allows pets or not - this only applies to the beach bar's equipment of course, like its sunbeds and umbrellas, not the actual beach!

📄 You must bear the pet's health booklet with you, which proves that the dog is vaccinated and microchipped.

Dogs are magnificent creatures.

They can offer unwavering support in moments of need, offering comfort and unconditional love. They see, smell, paw, and lick people without judging their stories, reproving, and discriminating against them. They just don't care about sexuality or gender identity!

The way dogs interact with people is a pointer to the way our society should be. Dogs accept everyone with warmth and love; everyone is welcome, no matter who they are.

And since we've been talking about an island vacation all week, let's see how you can take care of your dog when traveling on a boat! 🛳🐶

Here are 6 tips for taking your dog on a boat:

🌊 Plan ahead: Check whether the boat has available seats for the doggo, ask if there is any pet equipment, schedule any activities and find trustworthy pet sitters in case you need to leave the pup alone for too long.

🌊 Stay cool: To prevent motion sickness, try not to feed your pooch for a couple of hours before the trip. Ask your vet for any pharmaceutical options that could prevent your dog from feeling nauseous.

If there is no pet equipment available:

🌊 Bring a life jacket: Life jackets for everyone on board are essential.

🌊 Pack a first aid kit: Ordinary first aid kits do not have everything your dog will need, such as antibiotic ointment, tweezers, and other essentials.

🌊 Bring necessary dog supplies: Don't forget your dog's towel, bowls, treats, and toys to keep it busy during the trip.

🌊 Keep the first tour short: Two to three hours is probably long enough for your first time sailing. Your dog has no idea what he just got into!

Did you know that there are 18 more tiny islands around it?

Most of them have been declared as Special Protection Zones for the species: Falco eleonorae 🦅, Larus audouinii 🦤 and Puffinus yelkouan 🐦 by the European Ecological Network NATURA 2000.

🏝 Koutsomytis and the island of Tigani next to it, is a beautiful day destination for tourist boats that start from Pera Gialos and is combined with a visit to Kounoupes.

Tigani, Koutsomytis and Kounoupes are the "exotic zone" of Astypalea. The waters and the environment are different from what you would find on the other beaches of the island.
