Celebrating our biggest national day of saying a big No to the fascists is already an emotional day, but experiencing the sense of community in the small, geographically isolated island of Halki, in the far southeast of the Aegean Sea, fills us with deep gratitude for our national heroes who fought for all of us, allowing us to be who we are, speak our own language, and live as free people in our own land.
