A 24-hour nationwide strike will affect air travel, ferry travel, and public transportation across Greece.

On Thursday, March 16, several sectors of transportation announced their participation in the 24-hour nationwide strike prompted by Greece's deadliest train crash on record at Tempi. Flights to and from Greek airports will be grounded. Ferry travel will be disrupted for all the ferries departing from Greek ports. Public transportation will be disrupted, as OASA blue buses will operate only between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Taxis on Thursday will also be participating in the 24-hour strike. Greek COVID-19 travel restrictions extended for all arrivals from China

The extension of travel restrictions for those traveling from China to Greece, regardless of their nationality, was announced by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). While the airlines must ensure that passengers have the required documentation and test results, all passengers on direct flights departing from China are required to have the following: a COVID-19 PCR molecular test result that is negative (taken at least 48 hours prior to arrival) or a COVID-19 rapid antigen test that is negative (taken within 24 hours before their boarding for Greece).

During the flight and while at the airport, passengers must also wear a high-respiratory protection mask (KN95, N95, or FFP2). The restrictions apply to people 5 and older, and the aviation directive will be in effect until February 14, 2023.
