Well, time to leave again after another great stay at Villa Zoe preparing for 2024. A few small changes made and maybe a few more to come ☺️
Added a little more colour to the garden and a bit of extra lighting for those long summer evenings. Of course we couldn't spend time here without enjoying the fantastic food and Cretan hospitality. The weather was fantastic too! ☺️🇬🇷❤️☀️☀️

Apologies to the followers of our page as it has just been highlighted that the booking link to our Airbnb page has been removed from the details (presumably some Meta update!). Anyway, please search for "Villa Zoe Hersonissos" to find the Airbnb page. It is titled "A Place in the Sun's Villa Zoe Hersonissos". Unfortunately I don't think it's possible for us to add it back onto the social media pages 🤷

So, here is 2024. Happy New Year to all! Here's to a happy, healthy year ahead with lots of Cretan sunshine, food and of course raki! Looking forward to welcoming all our guests this year and there are still some weeks available to book!

So, another summer season draws to an end. What a great season, some lovely guests and fantastic reviews but now our doors will close until 2024. Have a great winter and we'll see you next year! ☺️♥️🇬🇷

It’s the end of another season and we’ve loved having so many new visitors staying at Villa Zoe. We’ve had a great summer and hope our visitors enjoyed the Cretan hospitality too.
We were also happy that we finally worked out why our brand new vacuum wasn’t working - seems as though the Cretan cats really do get everywhere, in this case up the hose of the machine (thanks to our smallest co owner for this one).
We look forward to visiting more people next year, and maybe with a new bathroom too!

A fantastic 2 weeks spent soaking up the Cretan sun and enjoying the peace and privacy of the garden.
We've sampled food at so many wonderful places both in and around the villages as well as further afield.
It's definitely recommended to hire a car to explore what Crete has to offer ☺️🇬🇷☀️

An easy 30/40 minute drive up towards Agios Nikolaos is Ammoundara beach with free beds (if you buy drinks) and a fantastic sandy shallow beach great for kids or those with mobility issues. Definitely worth the drive and you can combine with an early visit to nearby Spinalonga (former l***r colony) or dinner in Ag Nik along the front. There really is so much to explore and enjoy in Crete!

Cats are a part of a holiday in Greece due to the large number of strays. We try to help with local efforts to feed, water and provide vet care as much as we can. And also get all the snuggles... 🙂

Crete isn't just beaches of course, as the largest island in the Mediterranean there is a LOT of interior where for millennia Cretans have farmed, foraged and used the land to support themselves. Cretan food (olive oil! Feta! Raki!) is all delicious but one restaurant in Heraklion, Pes Kesi decided to only offer authentic 'old school' cuisine from the beginning. They've also just opened up their farm where the majority of the restaurants food is sourced to visits. You can do olive oil tasting, cookery courses, or just go for a look around the farm in the beautiful mountains above Gouves (next to Hersonissos)

Another gorgeous beach - Potamos - only a short 20minute drive from Villa Zoe outside Malia. With a sandy beach, shallow water, perfect for kids. Also with a nearby taverna and at lounger service for drinks !

Making a first batch of limoncello from the lemon tree in the garden. If it works maybe we can include some as a guest welcome too… thoughts? (Also using baby labour to help clean up afterwards 😂)

Enjoying the first ice cream of the season at nearby Meltemi beach. And, did you know, we replaced the stairs inside Villa Zoe so it’s much easier to get up than before (both for old and young), plus added a little bedroom fridge for those sunset drinks upstairs!
