MIAO & Marti's Fund Volunteer Info Day & Fundraiser

Come join us at Patriko's Bar at Stoupa beach front on Sunday the 2nd of June for a fun-filled day of learning about volunteer opportunities at Mani International Animal Organisation and Marti's Fund! Whether you're passionate about animal rescue and animal welfare, or you want to become part of a fabulous community by helping animals in need, there's something to do for everyone. Meet like-minded individuals, discover ways to give back to the community, and make a difference. Don't miss out on this chance to get involved and make a positive impact!

With an all-day Arts & Crafts Market & Bazaar with delightful artisan, 2nd hand and handmade offerings available for all, we also have delicious food and drink available throughout the day, including some of Christina's delicious deserts and pastries!

Besides an informative talk on what it is like to volunteer for us and the different opportunities available, we are delighted to be able to present two super interesting talks by local professionals - Dr. Melina Lang, our local vet, will hold a practical seminar about 1st aid for pets and Ragna Prantner - dog trainer - will tell us all about dog language and what physical signals dogs use to communicate with other dogs and us and how we can apply this understanding to build a better relationship with our four-legged companions! Both talks are free but we would appreciate a donation towards the cause.

Welcome Address & Volunteer Info Talk

We are faced with a neverending stream of strays here in the Mani - cats and dogs mostly - and we do our very best to help them! Our organisation is entirely run by volunteers and we take pride of having helped animals in need for over 20 years. With more and more animals needing our help, we are desperate for more volunteers to join our team. We are currently having to turn animals away as we simply don't have any capacity anymore.

Volunteering opportunities are wide and varied - from being an active member of the care team, or becoming a short or long term foster, fundraiser, or simply by sharing our social media posts on your timeline - you can make a significant impact in helping us help those that need our help the most - our local stray population of cats and dogs.

In this talk we will tell you about the varied work we do, such as rescue, rehoming, and rehabilitation, as well as taking on the important task of neutering the stray population - and the many things you can do to help us as a volunteer. We would be delighted to see you there!

Understand the language of your dog by Ragna Prantner

We are delighted to be able to offer you this talk by Ragna Prantner - an almost fully qualified dog trainer - about the physical cues and signs that dogs use to communicate with each other and with us! Have you ever wondered why dogs yawn? Whether a wagging tail is a sure sign that your dog is happy? Or what it means when your dog will not look at you directly? Ragna will take us through a very practical introduction to dog language. Get to know simple physical signals that our dogs use every day to tell us how they feel. When we can read our dog's body language better, we can build a much deeper connection with our beloved four-legged friends. Misunderstandings disappear and we feel much more at ease in a mutual relationship that is based on trust and understanding. The event is free of charge but we would welcome any dontations.

First Aid for pets

Join our local vet, Dr. Melina Lang for an informative and practical introduction to 1st aid for your pets. We live in an area that can harbour a few dangers for our pets - heatstroke, stings & bites, cuts, brazes and more serious hazards such as poisoned bait are all part of our environment. It is therefore so positive and empowering to be prepared for eventualities, by knowing what to do in case of emergency. This talk could, quite literally, be a lifesaver for your beloved pets. The event is free of charge but we would welcome any dontations.
