Farewell to a great music composer and a great person.
Mikis Theodorakis was born on the 29th July in 1925 on the island of Chios. He fell in love with music and started performing in front of crowds as a young man. He lived his life his own way and always tried to help the Greek people via his work and voice.
Mikis passed away leaving behind him a rich musical heritage and much inspiration for future generations. Among many of his works of art, was the music he composed for the movie 'Zorba the Greek' (1964) starring famous actors like Anthony Quinn and Irene Papas.
The award winning film is based on the novel "The Life and Times of Alexis Zorba" (by Nikos Kazantzakis) and it was filmed entirely on the island of Crete.
