While tourism flourishes in the south of the island and more and more visitors discover the island for themselves, there are still Greek village idylls, romantic places and lonely bays to be found in other parts of the island. One of these is Potami in the north part of Samos. A approximately one kilometere long pebble beach surrounded by lush vegetations and an insider tip for bathers and local residents. While the smell of the pine trees flows through your nose, you spread out on the beach to sunbathe and look into the clean, turquoise water of the Aegean Sea.
Not far from Potami Beach another attraction awaits you: The waterfalls of Potami are regarded as one of the most spectacular destinations on the island. You can walk there in a few minutes on a path to get refreshed in the cool water - a great experience!
Two taverns, two beach bars and a cafe bar in Potami offer refreshments of a different kind from which you can enjoy unforgettable sunsets. A beautiful path takes you to the remote bays of Mikro Seitani and Megalo Seitani, where you can occasionally see Mediterranean seals. This area is the largest continuous forest area of the island and is under environmental protection.
Those who live self sufficient in Potami will find a harbour, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a small supermarket only few hundred meters away. And for those who want to go on a big shopping tour will be served in the second biggest city of the island, Karlovasi (approx. 3 km from Potami beach).
