🚨Drama in the Deep! A heart-stopping rescue mission unfolded last month in the stunning Diros Caves: Thanks to an amazing citizen spotting a sea turtle in distress caught in fishing gear, ARCHELON’s team in south Peloponnese sprang into action! With the support of the Gytheio Port Authority, we raced to the scene and freed this beautiful creature from a nasty hook.

🚨Μια συγκλονιστική αποστολή διάσωσης εκτυλίχθηκε τον περασμένο μήνα στα εκπληκτικά Σπήλαια Διρού: Χάρη σε έναν ευαισθητοποιημένο πολίτη που εντόπισε μια θαλάσσια χελώνα σε κίνδυνο, η ομάδα του ΑΡΧΕΛΩΝ στη νότια Πελοπόννησο έδρασε άμεσα για την διάσωση του άτυχου ζώου που είχε πιαστεί σε αλιευτικά εργαλεία! Με την υποστήριξη του Λιμεναρχείου Γυθείου, τρέξαμε στο σημείο και απελευθερώσαμε αυτό το όμορφο πλάσμα από το αγκίστρι που το βασάνιζε.
🙏 Ευχαριστούμε πολύ τους αφοσιωμένους εθελοντές μας και τις τοπικές Λιμενικές Αρχές για τη γενναιότητα και τη βοήθειά τους.

SUCCESS! THE MUNICIPALITY OF WEST MANI VOTED AGAINST THE VOLTON WIND TURBINE PROJECT!
On August 26, the West Mani Municipal Council took the decision unanimously to stand against the Volton wind turbine project in Gaidourovouni.
This important decision fills us with more confidence in the outcome of this fight. The last few days we have been busy preparing the next steps. We have also passed the bar of 4,000 signatures, incredible!
We will keep you informed of further actions. Your support is invaluable and together we will protect our natural and cultural heritage!

Στις 26 Αυγούστο, το Δημοτικό Συμβούλιο της Δυτικής Μάνης πήρε την απόφαση ομόφωνα να σταθεί ενάντια έργο ανεμογεννητριών της Volton στο Γαϊδουροβούνι.
Αυτό το σημαντικό βήμα μας γεμίζει με περισσότερη αυτοπεποίθηση για την έκβαση αυτού του αγώνα. Τις τελευταίες ημέρες ήμασταν απασχολημένοι με την προετοιμασία των επόμενων βημάτων. Και έχουμε περάσει τον πήχη των 4,000 υπογραφών! Απίστευτο!
Θα σας κρατάμε ενήμερους για τις επόμενες ενέργειες. Η στήριξή σας είναι πολύτιμη και μαζί θα προστατεύσουμε τη φυσική και την πολιτιστική μας κληρονομιά!

Parking is getting increasingly difficult at Kalamata airport, as more flights use K'mata, and I have been informed that short stay for pick-up is now €5 for the first hour € 7 for two, and NO free parking on the right hand side.
This seemed like a good opportunity to remind people that they can offer/request shared transport to Kalamata or Athens on our TRANSPORT MESSAGES page (http://www.parea-sti-mani.com/en/message-boards/transport-messages )
and the TRANSPORT section of our JOBS/SERVICES page ( http://www.parea-sti-mani.com/en/message-boards/jobs-services ). Here I can include Taxi services, which will often offer shared transport, but I would like to ADD contact information for anyone who, perhaps for business purposes, makes frequent trips to Kalamata/Athens, who is willing to share trips and so save on their own costs sometimes. These would not need to be date specific. Anyone wanting transport could contact people on the list, to see if they are available on a particular date.
