Sarakiniko is a beach in the northern coast of Milos. It is about 5 kilometers from Plaka, the island’s capital.
The beach is known for the vegetation-free white rocks of volcanic origin that surround it.. Wave erosion has created caves along the shoreline. The Saracen pirates used to find shelter in these caves and the beach got its name from them

One of the most special and hauntingly beautiful beaches on the Aegean. A lunar setting with huge, imposing rocks and blue-green waters that seem “trapped” in a narrow piece of the sea that hosts a cave of pure dream. Papafragas. A beach that is different from what you have seen until today.

Small beach next to Adamantas which is an easy solution for swimming. You will see some boats since it is also a small port, but the sea is clean. It has many tamarisk trees and white sand, as well as a concrete diving platform.

It is the star of every travel feature, photographers from abroad come for a single shot and thousands of tourists walk its “sea” path. The reason Klima, the famous street of Milos, attracts people from all over the world is to see the Sirmata. The Sirmata are the typical two-story houses of the fishermen, where they stored the boats in the lower part of the house to protect them from bad weather. This particular settlement stands out for the picturesque houses with colored doors. It is worth making the detour and waiting for the sunset to take one of the best photos.

Firopotamos is a fishing village on the northern edge of Milos, 4km. north-east of Plaka, the island’s capital, in a small bay. Firopotamos has one of the best beaches on the island and is a small harbor built around a natural cove. In the bay of Firopotamos, there are also the famous “wires”: the small houses where the boats are kept during the winter season and which, in summers, the owners use for summer homes.

It is a fairly long beach which is cut in the middle by a rock that has been detached from the mountain. The first part of the beach is the one that is overwhelmed by the visitors of the island since it has the necessary organization. The apparently volcanic colorful rocks that surround it create an amazing landscape, which is definitely worth a visit. The beach has shallow blue-green waters, always almost clear since in this southern part there is only open sea as far as Crete, while on the coast you will find a wide gray sand ideal for families and children.

Adamas, the harbor of Milos, is built in the safe embrace of a bay and is considered one of the largest natural harbors in the Mediterranean. It is built in traditional Cycladic architecture.
Adamas is the most developed tourist center of Milos. Around the port and in the village you will find many hotels and rooms for rent, coffee shops, taverns and bars.
Also, most of the island’s public services have their headquarters in Adamantas.
The beaches that you can visit from Adamantas are Lagada and the beach of Papikinos, which has been awarded the Blue Flag. It is about two wonderful sandy beaches with clear blue waters.

It is an amazing beach with crystal clear waters and colors created there by sulfurThe pictures speak for themselves, but the history of sulfur mines has its own interest. The sulfur mines of Milos were at their peak during the interwar period in the 1930s. Sulfur transport facilities, mining galleries, dilapidated offices, tools and various unexplored objects testify to this. During the period 1890-1905 the sulfur mines were operated by the Public and Municipal Works Company. However, in 1905 their operation was stopped due to the production of cheap sulfur in America. Then for a few years they operated sporadically, while in the 1930s, as we said, there was full operation. It was during this period that the facilities that are still preserved in Milos were created. The sulfur mine in Paliorema stopped its operation in the 1960s, but it could have been turned into a beautiful open-air museum and you should not leave it to its fate. Finally, the business closed for good in 1978.

Gerontas is a beach located in the South of Milos. It is accessible by car, but you will have to walk through the quarry at your own risk. When you reach the beach it is certain that you will be rewarded by the landscape. A small bay with fine white rocks all around and a natural bridge connecting sea and land to its right.

It is located in the southernmost part of Milos Bay, which is the crater of an extinct ancient volcano. This is the largest beach of the island, which looks like a huge crescent moon. It offers a magnificent view of Adamantas and Plaka, the capital of Milos, as well as the highest point of the island, Mount Prophet Elias.
The beach got its name in honor of the unique lake in Milos, which is located at the western end of the beach. Achivadolimni is translated from Greek as “clam lake”, and indeed, its bottom is literally filled with various representatives of aquatic fauna.

27/04/2023

The ancient theater of Milos is located on the hillside where the ancient city stretches, between the modern settlements of Trypiti and Klima, in an impressive position overlooking the bay of Milos. The monument has been partly excavated. From the excavations to date, the orchestra has been revealed, part of the hollow, the stage building and the western transept.
The surviving form of the theater belongs to the Roman era, however, it is possible that the original construction of the building dates back to the Hellenistic era. The natural inclination of the slope was used for the hollow, which has the typical horseshoe-shaped carving of ancient Greek theaters. The seven bleachers with white marble benches in up to 9 rows have been revealed from the hollow. Each row has between four and five benches. The upward extent of the concavity is not known.

The beach of Agia Kyriaki is located on the south-eastern side of Milos, close to Paliochori beach and only 9 kilometers from the island’s main port, Adamantas.
It is one of the most popular beaches of the island, with the main characteristic being the sand, as are all the beaches on the southern end of the island.

Plaka is the capital of Milos and is built on a 220m hill above the surface of the sea. With a typical Cycladic color, attractions, and a good tourist infrastructure, it impresses the visitor. Its Cycladic architecture makes it one of the most picturesque and beautiful settlements on the island that you definitely should not miss. Definitely walk through the old neighborhoods and enjoy the narrow cobbled streets, quaint shops, and the Cycladic color of the houses. Its name is due to the level ground on which the houses of its first inhabitants were built when the Castle could no longer accommodate the entire population.

Paliohori beach is a beautiful, long beach with changing colors and amazing waters, which place it among the most popular beaches of Milos. You will arrive by passing through Zefyria. The beach of Paliochorio is almost 2 kilometers long and extremely popular. It consists of colorful pebbles, coarse sand, and cool, crystal clear deep waters. In fact, the beach consists of three beaches. The big and organized one, the middle one, and a smaller and narrower one surrounded by rocks. In Paliohori you have the opportunity to see unique and impressive images, a result of the volcanic energy of the area. In addition to the colorful rocks in red, pink, yellow, and white-grey colors, in Paliochori warm waters spring up. The unimaginable variety of natural materials and colors available is sure to amaze you.

Tsigrado beach is not accessible on foot or by car but in a rather adventurous way… a wooden ladder! Specifically, it is a small cove, with transparent waters, with the rocks forming a formidable landscape. A sign at the top warns that if you want to walk down to the beach, you will do so at your own risk. It is an extremely steep rock, which you descend by a wooden ladder that hangs with only a rope. Of course, those who are not so adventurous, prefer the sea route and rent a boat to reach it.
