Just a quick bit of information: Starting 3rd May, Jet2.com will be flying to Kalamata from Stansted and Manchester. This is NEW for 2020! It is in addition to easyJet from Gatwick and Manchester, BA from Heathrow and Ryanair from Stansted. So, lots of choice now on how to get to this magical part of the world!!

Thanks to everyone who has booked or re-booked for their holidays here this season. I will be delighted to welcome you.
If anyone is interested, due to some people changing their dates, I now have some availability in early May in two of the villas. May is one of my favourite months here, the light is clear and magic and there are spring flowers everywhere. It is very beautiful.

Six weeks into the new season and things are going very well at Fig Leaf Villas. The pool is warm but still refreshing, the beer is cool and equally refreshing! The guests are enjoying the new furniture and changes in the bar area and the new extended massage service. We have enjoyed petanque parties, meze meals and curry nights together, and the night crickets chirrup away when we're chatting in the bar area in the evenings.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!! to all my guests, past, present and future. I would like to extend a warm 'thank you' to all of you who have already visited Fig Leaf Villas and have shared your warmth and friendliness with me, you really make my job fulfilling and worthwhile!! I'm looking forward to seeing many of you again next season and welcoming newcomers here to this little bit of Paradise in Southern Greece!!

Hooray!! One of my favourite moments of the year has arrived!! It rained and was quite cool a couple of days ago and yesterday morning when I stepped outside to have my breakfast in the sunshine on the veranda I looked at the mountains and WOW!!!! this is what I saw, it never ceases to take my breath away!!

Autumn has arrived here at Fig Leaf Villas, with gorgeous warm days, this week we had temperatures up to 30C!! But generally it's about 23 in the daytime which makes it really great for getting out and about. It's still warm enough to swim and lie on the beach, but not so hot that a walk around Gialova lagoon is daunting!!
I had a wonderful season of exceptionally lovely guests, warm and supportive of my efforts. I would like to thank all of you for your company and your kindness.
Since the season closed on the 8th October I have been blessed with visits from family and close friends and have been out and about enjoying this amazing and beautiful part of the world. Visits have included Polylimneo Waterfalls, Methoni Castle, Gialova lagoon with its flamingoes, egrets and kingfishers, and a wonderful drive up into the mountains where we encountered fabulous autumn colours and stunning scenery. We stopped at a little cafe in a small village in the hills and the lady of the house brought us a small square of the most delicious walnut and apple cake baked by herself, and given to us from her heart! Special memories!!
Below are some photos to give you an idea of the wonders of Messinia!! I look forward to a fantastic 2019 season, and thank you to so very many of you for booking to come and stay here next year, I look forward to welcoming you here.

Hot days and nights are here again. Going in the pool at night is fantastic, the water is warm but refreshing. A cool beer in an iced glass and tzatziki is a refreshing snack at a beach bar. This year we have a pair of beech martens here, they are very friendly and skitter around the pool and the plants and hedges at night. I was up very early in the morning a few days ago and one of them came up and sniffed both my feet (I had showered!!). Then, when I walked up the path again, they both ran along the walls and followed me. It was a delightful little commune with nature! However, I have found out that they are eating my tomatoes off my tomato plants so that's not such a great side to having them living here!

New Waterfalls found!!
Well, strictly speaking the falls themselves are probably not new!! But they have recently been made public-friendly and I visited them a few days ago. Some of you will be familiar with the stunning nearby waterfall area called Polylimnio, The first photo is of this river system, the rest are of the new one. This new area is nearer to the West coast, towards Gialova and is called Stenosia. It is very near to the main road, only about 2 Km and is easily accessed. We stopped in the village and had a frappe on a roof terrace of the cafe and were served by a very smiley and friendly waitress!! We then carried on less than 5 minutes to the waterfall area. Unlike Polylimnio where you start upstream, with this one you head downstream. You can walk quite a way on relatively easy paths, though they are steep in places, further down there is one slightly tricky place where you have to climb down quite steep rocks, but they have put a rope there so you can get down and back up though perhaps not for the nervous walker! It is very different from the familiar Polylimnio, with far fewer people there at this time of year, which we enjoyed. There is a picnic area near the road and I think a lot of people only really go that far! Well worth a visit.

Fig Leaf Fun and Friendly Festivities!
A great fortnight with lots of fun with returning guests who have been coming here for the past five years, plus some lovely new Dutch guests who I hope will return! We had a day on the beach, a Pimms and Petanque evening, meals at the local tavernas, massages and warm and friendly days and evenings together. Thank you all for your company and a fantastic fortnight of laughter and friendly chats!! Here is a selection of my photos.

Due to a cancellation we now have Villa Dafni available at a discounted price from the 1June until the 7th. This is a lovely little villa with a great view and lots of outside living space. The price for the villa at this time of year is usually €76 per night but I'm delighted to offer it at €50 per night to fill the gap.

Just back from a hectic week in the UK seeing family and friends before the start of the season here at the villas. I returned to a very unseasonal 30 degrees!!! Very enjoyable to be gardening naked after a cool and drizzly week in England. We are busy with paint pots and strimming, gardening and cleaning to get the place in good shape for our first guests on the 26th April.
I'm very much looking forward to the season, to welcoming all sorts of different people, some who have been before and have become dear friends, and others that are new. This season I have guests from as far afield as Singapore and Australia- it's lovely to have such a cosmopolitan mix!
