My name is Jeroen de Bever, I was born in Breda, the Netherlands. I have built this website, inspired by my passion for the beautiful village of Plakias, the lovely people and the stunning nature that surrounds it. My first visit to Plakias was about 16 years ago, and it was “love at first sight”. Before and after this first visit, I have travelled the world and visited 40 countries. But "Beautifu

l Plakias" is the place I always come back to, that always feels like coming home. Even after so many years and numerous visits and stays. I am just a guy who thinks that keeping the hospitality, warmth and friendliness of the people and the overwhelming beauty of the surrounding nature to himself is less than half the fun: Sharing it makes me happy and I will keep adding photo’s, tips, routes for hikes etc. for you to enjoy and share with others. I only share photographs I have made myself, here and on the website. I hope to see you around Plakias one day.

The "new" harbour, a nice stroll along the sea just west of Plakias, on the way to Souda beach. See the fishing boats, enjoy the great views towards Plakias and now you can even sit down and relax while having a drink at the new canteen...enjoy your sunday!

Early spring is a great time to visit Plakias. Ideal for the people who love to hike and for those who are not good with the high temperatures of summer. Everything is blossoming, the town and surroundings are still relatively quiet and the beaches pristine.
Below the beaches of Ammoudi, Ammoudaki, Klisidi and Damnoni in the spring of 2024, seen from the Agios Paisios chapel.

A stunning hike through the Kourtaliotis Gorge, from just after the waterfalls to the hydro station (north east of Plakias). Only for adventurers because there is no path. You'll have to find your way over and passed huge boulders and maybe even wade a bit through the water...😉❤️🇬🇷

Shinaria beach, just under 4km east of Plakias (as the crow flies). There are 2 tavernas to enjoy a drink or some food. Easy to reach by car or on a amazing hike from Plakias (walk 1 in the walks section on the website)...enjoy your sunday!
