My name is Jeroen de Bever, I was born in Breda, the Netherlands. I have built this website, inspired by my passion for the beautiful village of Plakias, the lovely people and the stunning nature that surrounds it. My first visit to Plakias was about 16 years ago, and it was “love at first sight”. Before and after this first visit, I have travelled the world and visited 40 countries. But "Beautifu

l Plakias" is the place I always come back to, that always feels like coming home. Even after so many years and numerous visits and stays. I am just a guy who thinks that keeping the hospitality, warmth and friendliness of the people and the overwhelming beauty of the surrounding nature to himself is less than half the fun: Sharing it makes me happy and I will keep adding photo’s, tips, routes for hikes etc. for you to enjoy and share with others. I only share photographs I have made myself, here and on the website. I hope to see you around Plakias one day.

Just up the road you will find the Koules of Souda (Ottoman fort) with magnificent views over Souda Bay and the Itzedin fortress. On the way from Plakias to Chania...😉❤️🇬🇷

You forgot to bring some books, or you realize you would love to have something to read while enjoying your days on one of the many beaches around Plakias? No worries, just pay a visit to Europe's most southern Library, made possible by a small group of lovely volunteers. On friday's there is also a small bazaar to raise money for animal rescue.
You can even have a drink and enjoy the serene surroundings.
Open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 11:00-12:30 and just a short walk north of Plakias...😉❤️🇬🇷
