PROGRAM
Friday, July 22, 2022
10:30 – 14:00: Nithauri: We will be waiting for you in the fountain of the village for a 4X4 ascent at an altitude of 700m to the cave "Southern Hole" Paul Faure. Guided tour - hosted by the Cultural Association of the village.
12:00 – 21:00: Kouroutes – Spiritual Center of the Parish:
"Exhibition of Folk Art of Old Kouroutians" in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Kouroutes.
18:00 – 21:00: Asomaton School/ Panakron Estate: "Clay". We invite both adults and children to feel creative and make the soil a work of art in a demonstration by Giorgos and Natassa Vardaxis with the support of the Cultural Association of Vistagi.
18:00 – 22:00: Asomaton School/Panakron Estate: Providing information on the Amari Waste-Processing Unit, which is a breathing project for the Rethymno Regional Unit and Amari.
18:00 – 19:30: Asomaton School/Panakron Estate: "Biological bee products and Natural cosmetics". Speech by Ms Hara Maggana, biologist/beekeeper, member of the Board of Directors of the DIO Institute and co-founder of Bee Naturalles.
19:30 – 20:30: Asomaton School/Panakron Estate: Botanical walk at the Asomaton School. This is followed by a cooking evening with the chef Giorgos Papyrakis with organic raw materials married with the local tradition and with the support of DIO.

21:15 – 22:30 Asomaton School/Panakron Estate: Musical tribute to Mikis Theodorakis "Mikis ... of the poets". Narration: Anna Psarra. Song: Erophili and Argyro Kaparou. Piano: Kostas Giannakis.

22:30 – 00:30 Asomaton School/Panakron Estate: "I am also written on the papers of the connoisseurs." Concert and feast of Cretan and traditional folk music with Maria Koti and her colleagues. Maria Koti (vocals, percussion), Stavros Maragoudakis (lyra, vocals), Manolis Manousakis (lute, vocals), Vladimiros Ouranos (bouzouki) and Haris Chatzimanolis (guitar, vocals).

10:00: Patsos – Drymos: Vineyard walk. Speech/wine tasting on "Organic viticulture: promotion and prospects of local wines" by Mr. Stamou, Agronomist/Vinegrower, Consultant of Organic Agriculture, Member of the Institute of Organic Agriculture DIO.
Speech by Ms. Katerina Karabatea, Chemist of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki who possesses a Msc in Oenology, is Graduate Oenologist (DNO) Dijon, France, Doctoral Candidate of the University of Western Attica and Regular Taster/Judge at the International Wine Competitions: Berliner Wein Trophy, Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg) on "Bioprotection, Local Varieties and Protected Geographical Indication Wines".
12:00 – 14:00: Visit – pilgrimage to Agios Antonios in the Patsos gorge. This is followed by a tasting at the Kourkoulos Winery.
12:00 – 21:00: Kouroutes – Spiritual Center of the Parish:
"Exhibition of Folk Art of Old Kouroutians" in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Kouroutes.
18:00 – 21:00: Asomaton School/ Panakron Estate: "Clay". We invite both adults and children to feel creative and make the soil a work of art in a demonstration by Giorgos and Natassa Vardaxis with the support of the Cultural Association of Vistagi.
18:00 – 19:00: Asomaton School: Botanical walk together with the participating farmers of DIO, the chef George Papyrakis and the visitors of the festival.
19:30 – 20:30: Asomaton School /Panakron Estate: Cooking with local organic ingredients.
21:30 – 00.30: Asomaton School/Panakron Estate: "Concert of Georgia Dagaki". Her lyre music is stunning and her voice takes us on a Dionysian journey. The musicians: Alexandros Chrysostomidis (guitar), Loukas Kalantzakos (drums), Giorgos Makris (wind instruments) and Vangelis Stephanopoulos (synthesizer) are with her.

10:00 – 13:00: Amari Dam Reservoir - Pantanassa: The custom and the traditional technique of "sheep shearing" will be presented at the exit of the gorge in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Pantanassa, at the "Kefalovrysa" site.
10:15 – 11:30: Cultural Association Hall of Apodoulou: "Possibilities of cultivation, trade & standardization of the local raisin-olive": Speech by Mr. Evangelos Kaltsas, organic farmer, olive grower/processor in Thassos (Veluitinos) in collaboration with DIO and the Cultural Association of Apodoulou.
12:00 – 14:00: Kouroutes – Spiritual Center of the Parish :"Presentation of a traditional factory" in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Kouroutes.
11:30 – 14:00: Meronas: "Ode of the Temples - tour of the Byzantine Temples that are situated both inside and outside the settlement" by Fr. Emmanuel Vamiedakis in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Meronas.
18:00 – 20:30: Vistagi: Guided tour of the Folklore Museum. "We play like the old days: Revival of children's games while the grandmothers also prepare a treat of the old times" for all children in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Vistagi.
19:00 – 20:30: Hall of the Municipal Council - Agia Fotini: Speech by the Philologist - Researcher of Sorbonne University Maria Kanava on the topic "A journey through space and time of the local Church in the Municipality of Amari". This is followed by a photo exhibition with the most important Images from Churches and Landscapes curated by the artist Katerina Giavridi. After that , a presentation will take place on "Legends and traditions, lost stories connected with customs of Amari villages with toponyms and heirlooms that we have".
20:30 – 21:00: Agia Foteini Town Hall – Municipal Council Hall: Intervention of the Archaeological Service of Rethymnon for the projects that have been launched in the area of the Municipality of Amari.
20:00 – 22:00: Theater of Apostoli village:
Theatrical performance entitled "Theros, 'Eros, Hero" (‘’Summer, Love, Hero’’) based on two dramatized short stories by Alexandros Papadiamantis. Directed by: Lilly Melemé. Music editing: Semeli Papaoikonomou. Actors: Irini Hieronymaki, Christos Matsiarokos, Panagiotis Raios, Pari Trika.

The entrance is free in all the events and free transportation is provided by the Public Bus Services .

Villa Kalli and neighbors 🐎

Good Morning friends! Our recommendation for today, is Agios Georgios beach, in South Rethymnon, near Agia Galini. Located within 1h 15min from Villa Kalli, this is a small -not so busy- beach, with crystal clear, fresh waters. You can spend all day there (have coffee, lunch, a drink or a nap at our favorite Agios Georgios snack bar!) or follow the coast towards the more popular beaches Agios Pavlos and Triopetra.
