Curious about orange wines?
Contrary to the popular belief that orange wine originated in the basement experimentations of Brooklyn hipsters 😉, orange wine has been around for thousands of years.
The beautiful amber tone emerges when white wine varietals have contact with their grape skins and seeds, something not done in conventional white-winemaking. This skin contact also gives the wine a bit of tannin, lending boldness and dryness on the palate.
Orange wines have been produced for millennia in the Old World, from Georgia, to Italy, to Greece (like this featured glass from our friends at Wines ) It goes to show that some things never go out of style ☺️🍷
