The Walnut Tree is a spacious villa in a rural setting with panoramic views of the Greek countryside, the hillsides and mountains of Kefalonia and glimpses of the Ionian Sea and the island of Ithaca. The villa is arranged on two floors comfortably accommodating ten guests in five bedrooms in two self-contained apartments, making it suitable for two families or groups of friends wishing to holiday

together. Extra guests can be accommodated by arrangement with the owners. The villa is set in secluded gardens and landscaped grounds of just over an acre with a private (10m x 5x) swimming pool, a boule court, table tennis, a barbecue area. The location of The Walnut Tree villa is central to the island of Kefalonia and perfect for exploring the rest of this fascinating and beautiful holiday destination.

We spent a lovely day on a boat trip with Zaharatos to the beautiful island of Ithica. We were looked after very well indeed! 3 swimming stops, plentiful fresh water, fruit juice, apples, watermelon and Riganada (a delicious combination of bread, tomatoes, olive oil, oregano and feta cheese). We had a 90 minute stop in the capital Vathi to explore.... Read our blog for more info.

📌✒️The Olympic Flame will be reborn in Ancient Olympia on April 16, 2024 before beginning its journey to the French capital, on the occasion of the “Paris 2024” Olympic Games.
The Olympic flame will travel across Greece for 11 days.
Finally, the French three-masted Belem will receive the Olympic flame in Piraeus on April 26 to transport it to Marseille, the Phoenician city, where it will arrive on May 8.

Our recent trip to Argostoli and we finally crossed the footbridge and walked into town! It took 10-15 minutes, saved finding a parking space and we saw the giant turtles 🐢 (sorry, wasn't quick enough with the camera 📸!)

What else to do in Argostoli?

-Cafes, shopping, the museum
- Catch the ferry to Luxouri (foot and car ferry) It takes 30 minutes and they run regularly through the day (and evening!)
- visit the lighthouse
- check out the sinkholes
- in season there's plenty of boat trips too!

Antisamos in Spring....

Time for walking we thought... and we did, but we also basked in the sun, had a picnic and swam in the sea - look no crowds!

The cafes on the beach are getting ready for the season. Here's to 2024!

This beach is an 8 minute drive from the villa. There are lots of cosy bays between the villa and Agia Efimia (for those not wanting a big beach). Pack a picnic and spend some hours basking in the Kefalonian sun. Yes, it's April and swimming in the sea (OK it was a bit invigorating!) 🏊🌞🏖️

Spring in Kefalonia.... It's lovely and quiet but Sami being a port town means there are always a few tavernas open. First though a good walk along the promenade. Yassu!

Argostoli by the waterfront…. always a magical sight. Wild, free and one of Kefalonia’s treasures.

You couldn’t make it up… Red Arrows have got some serious competitors down in the pool at The Walnut Tree… background noises aren’t bad either!!!

Olive Harvest Done! 22 olive trees, 10 sacks of olives, 404 kgs of olives, 60 kgs of olive oil, 85.71 litres of olive oil! Percentage is 15% yield. We are pleased - running in and out of thunderstorms, sweating (?) in hot sunshine, wearing two fleecies just to keep warm not to mention waterproofs at worst! All so worth it! Yippee! Bringing olive oil back to UK on Friday.😊
