Following the trail that begins after Drakei village, you will find a shady pine forest reaching to the sea, until you reach 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢, one of the most beautiful beaches of Samos island, which is integrated into the protection network Natura 2000 as it hosts the Mediterranean monk seal "Monachus-Monachus". There you can enjoy your swimming in the turquoise crystal clear waters along with the white sand and afterwards continue your hike to Mikro Seitani or Potami.

𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐢 village is located about 6 km away from Kallithea and constitutes one of the most traditional villages of Samos island. A hiking path starts from the area to the east side, which leads to the wonderful beaches of Megalo Seitani, Mikro Seitani and Potami as well as to Kosmadaioi village. The coastal settlement Agios Isidoros is also a part of Drakei, with few inhabitants and the last remaining shipyard on the entire island (Tarsanas). The wooden boats created by the Samians, called “Samenes”, used to travel all around the Aegean sea. Tarsanas of Agios Isidoros is probably the oldest active traditional shipyard in Greece, with a particular significance for the history and development of wooden shipbuilding.

After 16 km west of Kampos Marathokampou, you will find Kallithea village. From there you can follow the dirt road for around 6 km which leads to an uphill trek of 500 meters, until you reach the church of 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢. Constructed in a cave in the mid-9th century, the little chapel contains murals from the 14th century. You will also notice the troughs and large clay jars in the lower section of the 15-metre cave that collect water dripping from the tips of stalactites. This water is then blessed. From the courtyard, you can enjoy the green landscape and panoramic sea view.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐬 is located on the eastern side of Kerkis mountain, around 4 km away from Kampos Marathokampou. According to the tradition, it is the place which the famous mathematician and philosopher used as a seminary or he was hiding when the tyrant of Samos, Polycrates, was chasing after him. There are actually two caves in the area, one close to the other. It is said that Pythagoras was living in one of them and used the other cave for teaching. At the front of the first cave is a chapel, dedicated to 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚. Its name came from the forty steps that you have το go up, before the entrance of the cave. From there, you will enjoy the wonderful view of the valley and the sea.

After Psili Ammos Marathokampou (almost 3 km away), you will find 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 with turquoise crystal clear waters, surrounded by olive and pine trees as well as Kerkis mountain. The seashore is mostly covered with sand and there are a few sailboats around the wonderful calm bay. You can also enjoy traditional Samian food at local restaurants above the beach with wonderful sea view.

𝐏𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢 𝐀𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐮, also known as “Chrisi Ammos”, is a long sandy beach located almost 3 km away from Votsalakia area. It is one of the most unique beaches of the island, as the seabed is shallow and you have to walk many meters until the water covers your head. This fact makes it more suitable for kids and families. You can select to sit either on solitary or organized parts of the beach with umbrellas/sunbeds. There are also a snack bar for coffee/refreshments and a local tavern where you can taste traditional delicacies.

𝐕𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐚 𝐨𝐫 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐮 is one of the longest beaches (almost 2 km) of Samos island, located 1.5 km west from Ormos Marathokampou. It combines small pebbles on the shore and sandy seabed with medium depth and crystal clear waters. Along the main street, you will find various organized beach bars, traditional taverns, café and cocktail bars, supermarkets and small grocery shops as well as modern hotels, studios, apartments and simple rooms for rent, offering you a family atmosphere and comfortable stay for your holidays. Kerkis mountain, the highest of the island with 1434 meters altitude, dominates behind the beach and you can organize a hiking tour with experienced local guides to reach the top of it, called “Vigla”.

𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐬 is a long beach with pebbles and sand, located almost 7 km east from Ormos Marathokampou and 3 km south from Koumeika village. It is surrounded by small hotels and rooms for rent as well as traditional taverns and a local restaurant-beach bar towards the eastern side, next to a hidden beach cave that you can explore. In addition, there is also a small harbor for boats on the west part. Skoureika and Spatharaioi are also two beautiful picturesque villages that definitely worth a visit on this side of Samos island.

What makes it unique is the awesome hidden cave in its left end, which communicates with the turquoise crystal clear waters. It’s worth to dive there with a mask and explore the beauty of the deep seabed! The beach is equipped with sunbeds and a small bar for coffee and various refreshments.

𝐎𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐮 is a picturesque fishing cove - seaport, located 4 km southerly from Marathokampos village. At the area there are various taverns where visitors can taste local delicacies and seafood in a beautiful relaxing scenery. Velanidia is also a pebbled long beach at the eastern side of the port, which is ideal for swimming and relaxing. Ormos is well known for the shipyards, where wooden traditional boats were constructed in the past with the wonderful timber of Samos island.
