📍Ποταμός Αχέροντας! 🇬🇷

🗺️ Ο Αχέρων (Αχέροντας στη δημοτική) είναι ποταμός της περιφέρειας Ηπείρου και διασχίζει τους νομούς Ιωαννίνων, Θεσπρωτίας και Πρεβέζης. Οι πηγές του Αχέροντα είναι πολλές. Οι πρώτες πηγές του προέρχονται από τα χιόνια του όρους Τόμαρος στο Νομό Ιωαννίνων και οι άλλες πηγές του προέρχονται από τα όρη Σουλίου και τα όρη Παραμυθιάς Θεσπρωτίας. Σημαντικές πηγές είναι, επίσης, αυτές του χωριού Γλυκή Θεσπρωτίας.

ℹ️ Η ονομασία του ποταμού Αχέροντα προέρχεται από τη λέξη «ἄχος», που περιγράφει τη βαθιά θλίψη, τη λύπη και τον θρήνο. Στην αρχαιότητα, το όνομα του και μόνο αρκούσε να εκφράσει την ιδέα του Άδη και του τρόμου, καθώς περιγραφόταν ως ο δρόμος για τον κάτω κόσμο. Σύμφωνα με την αρχαία ελληνική μυθολογία ο «ψυχοπομπός» Ερμής παρέδιδε τις ψυχές των νεκρών στον Χάροντα για να καταλήξουν στο βασίλειο του Άδη. Η κάθε ψυχή, περνώντας από το πορθμείο του Χάροντα, έπρεπε να δώσει από έναν οβολό για τη μεταφορά.
