Villa Elea

Villa Elea Luxury traditional villa with private pool and sweeping sea view in the island of Tinos, Greece Villa Elea can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people.

Villa Elea is a spacious two-floor, 4-bedroom villa, located in the island of Tinos, Greece. It is the perfect place to enjoy the brilliant Greek sun and cool Aegean breeze, lapping in the large, private 9x5m freshwater pool, relaxing on the sun beds, or sitting back under the shade of the comfortable outdoor lounges. The view from Villa Elea is magnificent: bluest Aegean sea and sky from end to e

nd, framed by the whitest houses of the village and the austere barren hills. Take in the stunning view over breakfast at the long table on the shaded ground floor patio; climb with your book into the cool of the seagazing nook at midday; or watch the colors of the sunset from the comfortable lounge at the first floor terrace. There are two bedrooms with a view of the Aegean sea on the first floor, and two guest houses looking on to the garden, with their own bathrooms and separate entrances. The entire Villa has been restored and remodeled with love and care, transforming a historic home into a luxurious retreat. Modern and practical living spaces, such as the fully equipped modern kitchen, marble bathrooms, and dining area with fireplace, have been carefully furnished and decorated with original artwork, antique furniture, and deluxe hand-carved marble details.

It’s lunchtime, and nothing hits the spot quite like a Froutalia. This hearty local dish is made with thick-cut fried potatoes, eggs, and generous chunks of the local fennel-flavored rustic sausage. No better place to try it than at our local taverna Drosia, under the lush shade of the wisteria, on the balcony with the great view. Share it with friends - and don’t forget to also order some Keftedakia, the most delicious meatballs on the island, as evidenced by the conspicuously empty plate in the back.

CNTraveller recommends Tinos as one of the six undiscovered Greek islands to explore this summer!
"Nearly every one of the whitewashed villages has at least one taverna serving delectably simple local fare, like roasted eggplant, boiled artichoke with lemon and olive oil, and a variety of local cheese. Rent a car to explore as many of these villages as possible, and keep your eye out for the intricately decorated ancient dovecotes that pepper the cliffsides."

Spring has adorned Tinos with bright poppies, fragrant yellow broom, daisies, tender fennel fronds and lush greenery. Mellow weather, warm sunlight and a light breeze made a perfect day for a leisurely walk around the Tarambados valley, famous for the twenty or so well-preserved, lovingly decorated dovecotes.

As the hot day fades into night, follow the many steps of Smardakito village down to this magical square. Run your hands under the cool crystal water flowing fresh from the fountain, then rest a while under the palm trees at St. Anthony’s church. Share great food with good company under the string lights, and raise a glass to more perfect summer moments like this one.

Through the hardest winter, spring will find a way. Our garden is bursting with life and the promise of sunny days. It has been a long, long time coming, but summer is almost here, and nothing can stop it.

Ships are Tinos island’s lifeblood. The perpetual flow of goods and people, so taken for granted by those living on the mainland, is interrupted here. Having no airport, Tinos depends on ferries for a connection to the world. Ships, with their precious cargo of commodities, special mail, exciting news, and old friends, are vital to the island. Locals know them all by their silhouette on the horizon and by the sound of their horn. In turn, the ships are loyal, and often brave the fiercest weather to call at the port. Amidst gale force winds, with bursts reaching 120km/h, the Superferry is leaving Tinos, while in the distance the Blue Star Paros is struggling against the waves to reach the island too.

Creamy, milky semolina custard, nestled between delicately crunchy filo pastry and drenched in a citrus-infused syrup: this delicious piece of heaven is called Galaktoboureko. In Pyrgos square, under the lush shade of the centenarian plane tree, you will find many shops that offer Galaktoboureko and other traditional syrupy sweets, such as Ravani, Ekmek, and Karydopita. Order yours with a scoop of Kaimaki ice cream on the side and an ice-cold glass of water, and you’ll surely need no other reason to visit Pyrgos again tomorrow.
