All about cats 🐱
Greece is known for its many street cats, you’ll often see them snoozing in a nice sunny spot 😴
Please be kind to all animals and give them some extra love ❤️
We always help out by feeding our village cats and have even taken some to a vet when they need extra attention ☺️

☀️ The sea temperature is still at around 23 degrees which makes it perfect for swimming!

Yesterday we received 40 sacks of cat food from Suzanne and Stefan at F O S Thassos animal shelter.
We then took 5 sacks ( 50 kilos) to a family further down the village that feed the stray cats night and day.
Tomorrow we will give more out to the people we know that regularly feed the stray cats in Kallirachi.
A huge Thankyou to Suzanne, Stefan and all in Germany that have done an incredible job with raising money to buy, donate and transport it all from Germany to Thassos 😊

We live in the village of kallirachi. Kallirachi is the village ‘above’ skala kallirachi, where Beach House Stavros is based.
The thing we love the most about our Beach house, is the amazing view of the sun set you get to see each night 😍
Because Beach House Stavros is only down the road from our home, this is the same view that our guests will also see!

Here at Beach House Stavros, Thassos , we like to talk about things happening on the island of Thassos.
Today we would like to tell you about F O S Thassos
FOS Thassos is a non - profit organisation set up by Suzanne Ince to help the animals on the island. The animal shelter, (named the Gingerbread sanctuary,) has been running for over 20 years.
The Gingerbread sanctuary is located up in the mountains of Rachoni. The team consists of Suzanne and Stefan, who both live there with the animals all year round!
They take in abandoned/stray animals on the island and the sanctuary provides a safe environment for over 200 animals including dogs, horses, Etc. The animals stay here until they can be located to new, safe and loving homes 🏠❤️
The sanctuary is funded entirely through donations and you can even help by sponsoring animals that are in their care.
Being big animal lovers ourselves, we like to help out by feeding the stray cats in our village. We now have around 20 cats in our ‘gang’ that we provide food for up in the village of Kallirachi!
Suzanne has even helped us with injured animals that we have found in the past and helped us with vet visits Etc.
If you would like to donate towards the sanctuary to help out with food costs or even become a sponsor for an animal, you can find more information on the FOS Thassos page.

Skala Kallirachi is located on the west coast of the island and offers an amazing view of mainland Greece and not to mention the beautiful sun set every night!
If you are someone that likes to stay within the area of their accommodation, this location is perfect for you!
There are convenience stores, a bakery and several restaurants just a 5 minuet walk from Beach House Stavros.
Skala kallirachi is not a typical tourist village although the locals are very friendly, making it an amazing place for people who like to go to more ‘traditional’ areas!

How to get to Thassos?
The easiest way to get to Thassos island is by ferry since there are two ferry ports on the island.
The port of Limenas, the capital of Thassos, receives ferries travelling the route Thassos - Keramoti daily, and the trip lasts about 25 minuets. In the summer, there are connections to the mainland every 15-30 minuets.
The island of Thassos does not have a commercial airport, however, it is possible to get a flight to Kavala airport and from there, catch a quick taxi to Keramoti to board a ferry ⛴️
