Calling all animal lovers, if you fancy doing something different during your stay in Santorini, visit SAWA, the Santorini Animal Welfare Association. Open from 09 until 12 (the earlier the better), you can help the wonderful volunteers and take the dogs for a walk to the beach.

"Demeter Cave house is just an incredible place to stay in Santorini. Hidden within winding streets, pristinely clean and serviced to an exceptional standard by Eiriene everyday. The plunge pool is a delight and the terrace a favourite spot to take in the views. Situated in Pyrgos, a delightful traditional village, its raised position provides views that memories are made of. It has a good mix of locals and tourists, you don't feel overridden by organised tours which is the blight of some other better known villages. The local restaurants provide lovely local dishes at reasonable rates, Penelope's was our favourite along with Franco's right at the top for a drink with views of most of the island. BUT the wow factor is the host Andrew, kind, helpful and generous. he makes sure you have all you need, booking restaurant's organising activities, nothing is too much trouble. Book it - you won't regret it!"
