The Holy Monastery of Panagia Eikosifoinissa is one of the oldest and most significant monasteries in Greece, with a history spanning over 16 centuries. Situated on the northern side of Mount Pangaion.

The monastery's origins date back to around 450 AD, attributed to Bishop Sozon of Philippi, who established a monastic settlement near the current location. The actual founding of the monastery is credited to Saint Germanos in the 8th century. Throughout its history, the monastery has been a center of spiritual and cultural significance in the region.

The name "Eikosifoinissa" is traditionally believed to derive from the presence of twenty (eikosi) palm trees (foinikes) in the area or from the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary housed within the monastery. This icon is highly revered by the faithful and is considered a significant religious artifact.

Today, the monastery functions as a female convent, home to a community of nuns dedicated to religious and communal duties.

The Holy Monastery of Panagia Eikosifoinissa remains a vital pilgrimage site, attracting visitors from around the world who seek spiritual solace and wish to venerate its sacred relics. Its rich history and serene mountainous setting make it a significant landmark in Eastern Macedonia.

The Stone Bridge of Kokkori, also known as Kokkori Bridge or Noutsos Bridge, is a picturesque stone bridge located in the Zagori region of Epirus, Greece. It is a prime example of the traditional stone bridges built during the Ottoman period in Greece, often by local craftsmen known as mastoroi. Kokkori Bridge is a single-arched stone bridge, gracefully spanning the Voidomatis River. Its design is both functional and aesthetic, perfectly integrated into the rugged natural surroundings.
Built in 1750, it is one of many similar bridges in the area, constructed to facilitate travel and trade across the challenging terrain of the Pindus Mountains.
The bridge is often referred to as Kokkori after a benefactor who contributed to its maintenance. Its alternative name, Noutsos, comes from another individual linked to its history.
The bridge is nestled amid lush greenery, steep cliffs, and the crystal-clear waters of the Voidomatis River, creating a scene of timeless beauty.
It is part of the Zagori region, known for its traditional stone villages, unique architecture, and natural beauty, making it a popular destination for hiking and photography.

The Eptapyrgio, also known as the "Seven Towers," is a historic fortress in Thessaloniki, Greece, that stands at the northeastern edge of the city’s old acropolis. Despite its name, it actually consists of ten towers, with the misnomer likely originating from similar fortresses in the Byzantine Empire. Constructed during the late Byzantine period, the fortress was later modified by the Ottomans, who expanded its structure and added new architectural features.

Throughout its history, Eptapyrgio served as a crucial defensive structure for Thessaloniki, guarding the city from invasions due to its strategic hilltop location. The fortress offers sweeping views of the city and the Aegean Sea, highlighting its significance in safeguarding Thessaloniki’s urban and coastal areas.

In the late 19th century, the Eptapyrgio was converted into a notorious prison, which remained in operation until 1989. It held both common criminals and political prisoners, especially during periods of political unrest in Greece. Today, the Eptapyrgio is a historical landmark and tourist attraction, drawing visitors interested in its rich blend of Byzantine and Ottoman architecture, panoramic views, and deep, sometimes haunting history.
