Today is of historic importance for Meganisi, as the final licensing of the marina of Atherino was signed by the Directorate of Technical Control of the Decentralized Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian Sea.
The unceasing effort and the coordinated actions of the Municipality of Meganisi from 2015 until today, brought this important result for a great breathing project that will change our place.
The marina of Atherinou has a capacity of 94 boats, while the area of the land area is a total of 1,537.70 square meters. and the surface of the marine zone is 28,997.50 square meters.
Specifically, the project includes:
• Construction of three floating projectors 75m long, 70m long. and 60m respectively, arranged transversely to the coastline under the cover of a floating breakwater with a total length of 90m.
• Placement of a floating corridor parallel to the coastline in the area close to the island with a total length of 213m, which is connected to the land zone with four levels of access (ramps).
• Construction of an inclined access level made of reinforced concrete with a total length of 28m. with the accompanying configurations, which will ensure the connection of the land area with the coastal road that runs parallel to and in contact with the eastern border of the land zone of the tourist shelter.
The Atherinou marina will give a huge boost to the development of marine tourism with pleasure boats, will spectacularly upgrade the tourist product and will contribute the most to the sustainable development of Meganisi and the Prefecture of Lefkada in general.
In a related statement, the Mayor of Meganisi, Pavlos Daglas, said:
"The hard work and continuous effort we have put in since 2015 has been vindicated today with the signing of the final licensing of the Atherinos marina project. A project that will spectacularly upgrade both the region and Meganisi as a whole, while it will be a driver of development as it will upgrade the tourism product of our island, it will create prospects and incentives for new investments in our place and, by extension, new jobs.
From the position of the Mayor of Meganisi, I feel the need to thank all the residents of Meganisi, who believed in our vision for Meganisi and trusted us.
The municipal authority continues to envision and work with all its might to create development projects and prospects for the future of Meganisi."
