The Olympic Flame made a brief stop-over in Paros yesterday afternoon, which was a great opportunity for festivities in the main square of Paroikia enjoyed by locals and visitors. Plenty of beautiful singing, dancing and showing off local talents including the performance of primary school children.
The flame arrived from Naxos by four military planes and left for Elefsina after the festivities.
Philippe and one of our regular guests, Nicholas, are currently in Germany and took part in the Berlin Half Marathon today. Congratulations to both of them! Once Philippe is back we can start the season at Villa Viglakia 🤩

Exactly 10 years ago today we arrived on the island of Paros with a lorry full of our belongings and our young daughter and cat to start Villa Viglakia.
It was a mild calm night, the stars were unusually bright (as it is pitch black around here in the Winter) and we could hear the waves of the nearby beach. It felt romantic but I had absolutely no idea what and just how much work we were in for.
I would not change it for anything. I am still glad and grateful to be here. 🥰🙏💙🤍💓🐈
With a big thank you to all our guests and people who helped behind the scenes to make it happen again, we are now closing for the season with a celebratory Halloween Birthday bash.

Amazing setting, talented dancers. A lot of work has gone into this. Free entrance. 😃

After a long and enjoyable season we have decided to close Villa Viglakia for this year.
A very big thank you to all our supporters and especially our guests of this years who came from as far as Costa Rica (!) and as near as Naxos to relax in our little sanctuary in Santa Maria.
I am posting this together with an autumnal shot of this stunning Russian 18th century frigate (replica) which was moored in Naoussa last week.
We just had the first proper rain since May and the first taste of Autumn.
Our garden is grateful and, once again, looking lush and green.
We love October in Paros. Things start to slow down and the island is even prettier than in the Summer.
Baby flamingos born in Paros this Summer at Alkyoni Wildlife Hospital. 🙂
Paros is very busy and popular this Summer and it is hard to find accommodation at the last minute.
We just had a cancellation in peak season in our Panoramic Sea view Apartment with the big terrace which sleeps 2-3 people.
Dates are 5-16 August. Santa Maria, near Naoussa.

Finally the heat wave is over as the cooler Meltemi North-wind so typical for this time of the year has started.
Paros has turned into a Wind surfer's paradise again.
The beaches are still blissfully calm early morning and in the late afternoon.
