For one more year, the interactive web-platform https://zakynthosturtles.org/en will be running to provide you the unique stories of the individual sea turtles of Zakynthos! Simply submit the photo of a turtle you saw to the webpage above. We will identify your individual and we will send you everything we know about it: its history (how often it visits the island), its behaviours, habits, but also information about their threats, injuries, and their viewing pressure. We will additionally send you a couple of photos of it!
👉 We are particularly aiming to change the way turtle spotting activities are conducted in Zakynthos. They have been increasingly putting a lot of pressure to the turtles, something that tourists dislike as well. We encourage turtle spotting operators to make use of our tool as part of their tours, increasing their educational element and eventually (hopefully!) leading to more responsible turtle watching practices.

Apart from the scientific support of ΑΡΧΕΛΩΝ-Archelon, the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece and the support of MEDASSET-Mediterranean Association to Save the Sea Turtles and Queen Mary University of London, this year we are also excited to have the support of the British Chelonia Group!
