On this first trip we traveled the route crossing Guatemala from the east shore all the way to the highlands in the West boarder.📍ruta .

On this first journey we entered through department and made our way across to Alta Verapaz department where we explored the Where we spent the night. We then continued the route towards Cuevas de Mucbil-ha, where we are always fascinated by the avast caving system and underground rivers. These are considered sacred entries by the Mayan Culture , . The people from this community ( Q’eqchi’ )provide a heart felt welcome and great services!

Next up on our trip we made our way to 📍 Campo Santo. The campsite on this location is one of the best around. It’s riverside location, big trees and lovely people make it a great experience! Make sure not to miss the river tubbing adventure through the cave system.

📍Cuevas de candelaria. 👉🏼The Candelaria Caves are a large natural cave system in the highland-lowland transition of Alta Verapaz in .The caves are famous for their peculiar karst phenomena and significance to history.

🟠The Great Western Trade Route of the Classic Maya, which connected the Guatemalan highlands to the Petén lowlands, went through the Candelaria Caves area. Pottery artefacts and rupestral paintings evidence the use of the caves for ceremonies.The Popol Vuh of the K'iche' people considers the Candelaria Caves an entrance to the underworld🦇.Some of the caves are still used for Mayan celebrations. Even though, the caves now are opened to the public.
