Here is a testimonial on a recent trip:My family and I recently had the opportunity to go on a tour in the Pomeroon River, Guyana, with Eco Destination Tour Guyana, and it was an unfiltered, raw experience that truly left an impression. The first stop on our journey took us to Farmer Ted's farm, a sprawling 2000-acre expanse with 1000 acres dedicated to cultivating coconuts and plantains. Our tour guide, Romaine Persaud, was incredibly knowledgeable, and it was evident that the company's founder, Hilon James, is committed to showcasing the authentic side of Guyana.

The experience at Farmer Ted's was hands-on and no-frills, which was a refreshing change from typical tourist attractions. It allowed us to connect with the land and understand the hard work that goes into agriculture in this region. During our visit, we had the opportunity to learn about coconut production, oil production, and even sampled fresh coconut water, providing a unique insight into the local agricultural practices and products.

Our second stop was equally fascinating, as we explored Massarie, an island in the Wakapao tributary of the Pomeroon. This tributary was lined with stunning mangroves and wild cocoa, creating a picturesque natural setting. Toashao Lloyd Pereira led us through a traditional coffee-making process using age-old methods. We handpicked Liberica coffee beans at the perfect stage of maturity, then fermented, rolled, roasted, and ground the coffee. It was a unique and educational experience that gave us a newfound appreciation for the art of coffee making.

Our final stop of the day was lunch at Adel's Resort, which provided a delicious and satisfying break during our adventure. The food was a reflection of Guyanese cuisine and was a great way to refuel before continuing our journey.

My family and I were in Guyana for a short time and wanted to explore the sights within Essequibo.

We contacted Eco Destination Tours for the day trip to the lakes.

The dates were already set but Romain arranged a separate date for the family and answered all the questions we had. We paid extra to be picked up from our home in Georgetown as we had an infant and also for ease. We also added an extra family member at the last minute who was easily accommodated for. Helon met us on the bus and our trip began. Help was offered with our bags.

The minibus took us to Parika. Whilst we waited for the ferry, we had coffee and snacks. We were able to take in the hustle and bustle of the stelling before we caught the ferry to Supernaam. We took pictures and enjoyed the journey along the Essequibo. There was a nice breeze and the river was calm.

Upon our arrival into Supernaam, we were met by another minibus and the other guide Romain. We again received help with our bags. We were offered refreshments and then taken to the Aurora Chimney and the 200 year old water tank. Romain was a font of knowledge, detailing the history and pointing out a variety of interesting landmarks.

We then went to the Capoey lake where we had a delicious homemade lunch. It was so nice to sit overlooking the lake, eating home cooked Guyanese food.my family loved the local juice and wine and shout out to Romain's mum for the wonderful cook up.

We relaxed some more before spending time swimming and enjoying the lakes.

Romain organised a raft trip along the lake which was so relaxing.

Initially the masseuse cancelled but Helon went out of her way to find an alternative.

The ferry was a little late on our return journey to Parika and if we had known we could have had a longer massage.

The team were polite, knowledgeable and provided excellent customer service.

I would recommend Eco Destination Tours.
