SEPTEMBER 2020 VISA BULLETIN
The Visa Bulletin is published every month by the U.S. Department of State. It shows which immigrant visa applications can move forward with National Visa Center processing, based on the priority date (the date when the I-130 petition was originally filed).
To determine if your case is eligible for final processing, you'll first need to know your preference category. Below is a list of the different family-sponsored preference categories:
• F1 - Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens
• F2A - Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents
• F2B - Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age
or older) of Permanent Residents
• F3 - Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens
• F4 - Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens
Note that petitions filed for the spouse, the unmarried child (under the age of 21), and the parent of a U.S. citizen are not subject to visa limitations. Visas are immediately available for these cases after approval by USCIS, so this category is not included in the Bulletin.
After determining your preference category, Guyanese beneficiaries will use the corresponding date under the column for "All Preference Categories Except Those Listed."
If the date listed in the Bulletin is on or after your priority date, this means your case is current and eligible to move forward. If the date listed is before your priority date, then a visa would not be available for your case currently, and you can keep monitoring the Visa Bulletin to track the progression of priority dates.
While the Visa Bulletin is useful for estimating wait time for National Visa Center processing, and knowing when a visa becomes available for your case, the wait time for your interview appointment at the US Embassy will be determined by the availability of an interview slot, and the number of completed cases ahead of yours in the queue. At this time, routine immigrant visa appointments are not being scheduled because of the coronavirus pandemic, and a presidential proclamation suspending the entry of most categories of immigrants to the United States until December 31, 2020. Our office continues to monitor this situation and will provide updates when routine services and appointments resume at the local embassy.
