Mixed feelings about MUG2024
Congratulations to the reigning queen and all the finalists, in fact to all eleven delegates … I will admit that change is good. For a while there I couldn’t wrap my head around the changes Miss Universe made about participation gender/age/status, etc. It dawned on me that at this level each of the 11 delegates deserved their space in this year’s lineup. Many of them had to arrange time off from careers, education and other life obligations to be part of this event that helps them empower themselves and their followers and promote their causes.
I think about how they hold this institution in high esteem to invest over $1,500,000.00 in their preparation and registration I think about the legwork and interviews trying to garner financial support and miscellaneous support to impress us with their promotional presentations. I coached one of the delegates and I was quite impressed with her level of commitment and her schedules to do the little things that made her shine.
I particularly like the hotel check-in a few days before (something Derek Moore advocated for during his time) and the judges transparency. More could have been done on promoting the show and delegates because for a while there we did not see eleven, maybe that’s why some people feel queen was a dark horse.
Was looking for more on the production standpoint but I reserve my judgement because I know the root cause can be financial. was also looking forward to seeing more of the queen making her rounds visiting our officials and some of our tourism sights while she gets familiar with some of our culture. Again, I call on the relevant Ministries to endorse pageants in Guyana…lets see this industry as the Olympics, let’s give our flag bearers the support they need to fly that Golden Arrowhead high

I missed the VIP meet and greet yesterday. I was so disappointed because I had my heart set on meeting Tabitha Brown. Well, Queen Tab ending up leaving her seat and walking that ENTIRE venue hugging, talking, and taking pictures with as many people as she could get to. As she got near my table, I smiled and waved. She waved back like we were cousins who grew up together and hadn't seen each other in a while. She started heading straight for me. Just then, a member of her team said to her, "these are VIP tables so they've already taken pics with you, let's head towards these other tables." He was right. The VIP people had the meet and greet with her before the event. But Tab pointed straight at me and said "not this lady right here, she wasn't back there" and she proceeded to come on over. Y'all, there were 80-100 people in VIP alone! There were HUNDREDS at the event. A sea of faces. A room full of women wearing her clothing line. I have NO IDEA how, with allll the faces she had seen and all the people she had hugged, she KNEW that I hadn't had a chance to meet her. I don't know, maybe she doesn't even know, BUT GOD KNEW. I got my picture and recorded a quick video with her which I'm saving for myself until it manifests!

My lesson in this.... EVERY REQUEST. God KNEW what I wanted. I had already asked Him. And y'all... EVERY REQUEST that we make to our Father is IMPORTANT to Him! That's what I want you to carry with you as you go thru this week. In a room full of people probably needing everything under the sun from God... my request to Him to meet Tabitha Brown was still heard. There is no such thing as a small or large prayer to God y'all. He's not sitting around separating the small things from the big things. He's INFINITE. So nothing is LARGE compared to His power. Whether you need healing, rent, a million dollars, or a new pair of house shoes.... EVERY REQUEST is heard. EVERYTHING you desire matters to God. Don't worry about the size of your request. Focus on the size of your FAITH in Him to make it happen for you 😉❤️

P.S..I washed my hair right before the event and I wondered if she could smell that Sweet Potato Pie collection by Donna's Recipe when she bent down for the picture 🤣😂
