This month was definitely a GEM. We had such a fantastic time birding for 24 hours. Seeing this immature Orange-breasted Falcon in Georgetown was by far our bird of the day. Having said that, it was not the first time seeing this bird in Georgetown. My buddy Calderon and I was leading a birding tour back in 2016 I believe and we had a similar experience seeing this species in the Gardens.
This Orange-breasted Falcon is known to be in much higher elevation, but to see one in Georgetown was out of this world.
Yes, this is one of many species classified as sensitive on eBird. Not to worry though, the birding community in Guyana is super tiny so by me posting about where I saw it didn’t triggered any bird rush as I like to call it towards the site to see this species. In fact, I don’t think anyone after us even went to see it.
Having spent the day birding with some of my amazing friends; Travis, Amanda, Kester and Kevin made even more special. Stay true for more…
In my next post, I will include a link to our GlobalBigDay eBird trip report so you can see what we saw during that day along with many other pictures.
