Nice article about scuba diving in Hong Kong featuring an interview with myself and Neil Kane. Most of photos are mine too.

Hong Kong supports a diversity of coral and fish, even if its waters are murky, pair say. They suggest ways to attract more scuba divers.

Picture swimming with a whale shark double the size of any whale shark you’ve ever seen

Did you know that only the old females reached the maximum size for whale sharks of 16 meters? And did you know that aside from Galapagos you can only see these biggest of all Fish in the sea of Cortez in spring?

On our expeditions, we hire micro light plan to spot these whale sharks so that you can experience what is like to swim with a true GIANT. Whale sharks in places like the Maldives, the Philippines, Mexico only reach size is up to 8 or 9 meters. Only when the females get pregnant, with their over 300 pups, do they re-emerge from the depth of the sea measuring 12 to 18 m of length

Only a few place in the world where you can see those with some consistency. That is the spring in the sea of Cortez and the fall in Galapagos.

This could be you!!

The whales that come to Tonga are on summer break. They either gave birth to their children and are waiting for them to fatten up, looking, singing and posturing for a mate or are literally doing nothing. They are not feeding, they’re not migrating, the water and the air is warmer than the Antarctic oceans where they hang out the rest of the year. So they are on holiday, and they are relaxed.

Tonga has implemented some very strict guidelines as to how many swimmers are allowed in the water, the time a boat is allowed to stay with the whale, turnaround time between boats, no freediving... the list goes on. As a result, the whales are not disturbed, and they have come to appreciate that. So they are absolutely welcoming to our presence. The encounters that we get are unreal like this Photographer coming face-to-face with a mother, calf and es**rt. After this almost still face-off, they proceeded to slowly glide past him.
