Service Civil International (SCI) is one of the world's largest international

since 2006, organised workcamps since 2008, granted SCI contact status in 2010 and officially recognised Hong Kong group in 2011 ICM.

🌍✨"Together" – Our Outdoor Classroom! ✨🌍
In just one week, our dedicated team of volunteers from Hong Kong, alongside the amazing local community, transformed a vision into reality by building the outdoor classroom "Together." This collaborative effort reflects the spirit of unity and shared purpose.

The classroom is not just a physical space; it symbolizes the bonds we’ve formed and the impact we've made. It will serve as a vibrant learning environment for local children, fostering creativity and connection with nature.

We’re incredibly proud of what we've accomplished and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful community.

Making a Difference in Sri Lanka 🌍❤️

Part 2 of our journey during the "Ancient Paths Towards A Sustainable Future" program was truly transformative! Over six incredible days, our 25 participants engaged in a voluntary service project at a local primary school — a highlight for many of us.

In just one week, we built an outdoor classroom, upgraded the classrooms and playground, and had the joy of teaching and connecting with the kids. The fulfillment from our voluntary work was immense, and we witnessed firsthand how our efforts benefited the school and its community.

Discovering Connections: Service Trip to Sri Lanka 🌍✨

In August 2024, we embarked on the first part of our two-week program, "Ancient Paths Towards A Sustainable Future," sponsored by the Youth Development Committee.

During our week-long tour, we visited remarkable Chinese-funded projects like the Lotus Tower, Port City, Hambantota International Harbour, Hambantota International Airport, and the Southern Expressway.

We also had the precious opportunity to engage in discussions with officials at the Chinese Embassy, exploring major development projects, trade, and social engagement programs of China in Sri Lanka. These experiences allowed our participants to discover the historical human connections between the two countries and define sustainable future relationships as global citizens.

🌏𝑨𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝑨 𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆✨
Throwing it back to our amazing summer program in Sri Lanka! In July, we organized an inspiring youth service tour called Ancient Paths Towards A Sustainable Future. Our aim was to discover the historical human connections that exist between China and Sri Lanka while promoting the personal development of participants through volunteering.

By visiting the Chinese Embassy, various infrastructure projects, and Buddhist temples, we explored the historical links between China and Sri Lanka in terms of trade, culture, and Buddhist philosophy. We gained a deeper understanding of how these historical connections continue to support modern-day development initiatives.

Throughout this two-week program, our participants engaged in meaningful community service, including:
- Rebuilding school facilities 🏫
- Teaching local students 📚
- Conducting home visits to connect with families 🤝

The voluntary service provided opportunities for participants to develop a deeper understanding of the mindset of the Sri Lankan people and the needs of their communities. Our participants truly showcased their dedication and compassion through these activities. They developed essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and cultural awareness, all while making a positive impact in the local community.

We hope this journey leaves a lasting impression on their hearts. Together, we’re not just learning about each other’s cultures; we’re also building a sustainable future for generations to come! 🌱❤️
