香港翻譯通服務 Hong Kong TransLingual Services 是本機構「優秀服務影響力獎」五大獲獎服務計劃之一。「翻譯通」自2010年起為少數族裔提供全方位翻譯及傳譯等服務。至2024年，已聘請超過120名少數族裔傳譯員，半年間服務高達10,000人次，助非華語人士突破語言隔閡，解決日常生活所需。兩名在「翻譯通」任職的資深同事，分享本服務如何協助他們發展專業職涯、實現自我價值，繼而改善家庭生計，以及發揮所長服務有需要人士，共同建立多元共融社會。

適逄今年係蛇年，喺中國文化中，蛇係智慧嘅象徵，咁喺南亞文化入面，蛇又象徵啲咩呢？🐍

喺印度教神話中，蛇係旋繞喺印度教三大主神之一「濕婆」頸上，象徵著創造同毀滅之間嘅平衡。蛇亦係保護之神「毗濕奴」嘅蛇床，代表時間嘅循環。每年印度傳統日曆第五個月（沙拉瓦那月），印度教徒仲會喺蛇節用牛奶祭拜蛇神，彰顯蛇喺南亞文化中嘅重要性🪄

無論喺咩地方，大家都有唔同嘅習俗，而唔同嘅背景交流之下可以廣闊文化視野，大家見到非華語朋友嘅時候，不妨了解佢哋習俗，或者可以發掘更多世界有趣嘅地方㗎！🌎

2025 is the Year of the Snake. In Chinese culture, the snake symbolizes wisdom. Do you know what does snake represents in the cultural context of South Asia? 🐍

In Hindu mythology, snakes are ornaments coiled around the neck of “Lord Shiva”, the supreme deity in Hinduism, symbolizing the balance between creation and destruction. Snakes also serve as the serpent couch of “Lord Vishnu”, the protector deity, representing the cycle of time. Every year, during the fifth month of the traditional Indian calendar (Shravana), Hindus worship the snake deity with offerings of milk during the Nag Panchami festival, highlighting the significance of snakes in South Asian culture🪄

Every place has its own unique customs. Through the exchange of different cultural backgrounds, we can broaden our cultural horizons. When interacting with non-Chinese-speaking friends, it’s a good idea to learn about their customs, or you may discover more fascinating aspects of the world! 🌎

Exciting Times Ahead for Hong Kong's Aviation Industry! 🛫

The launch of the new Three-Runway System at our Hong Kong International Airport is set to boost flight handling capacity by an impressive 50%! 💪 However, this also means the industry is facing a surge in manpower needs across diverse roles - from ground handling to aircraft maintenance, and beyond.

To address this growing demand, the Airport Authority Hong Kong is hosting a Youth Aviation Career Fair on 13-14 June. Over 30 companies will be on site offering a whopping 2,000+ job vacancies! This is a fantastic opportunity for young job seekers, as well as non-Chinese speakers, to kickstart an exciting career in this dynamic sector.

One shining example is Muhammedh, a participant of our PIONEER PROGRAMME. After moving to Hong Kong in 2022, he faced challenges securing aviation roles initially. But with the guidance and training provided by our programme, he was able to successfully land a Aircraft Maintenance Technician Trainee position at HAECO.

"The Three-Runway System will further strengthen Hong Kong's status as a regional aviation hub, providing even more opportunities for those aspiring to join the industry," Muhammedh shared.

This is just the beginning! As the aviation industry roars back, the PIONEER PROGRAMME is dedicated to empowering diverse communities and matching top talent to these sought-after roles.
