Camera eats first? Our Foodie participants love to capture all the scrumptious tastings on our Foodie Tour but sometimes we just want to dive straight in to these ping-pong sized wontons, slurp down the al dente noodles and sip the sweet tasting, slow-cooked broth! Yum! Who wants to join us on our Central & Sheung Wan Foodie Tour? 🙋‍♀️🙋🏻‍♂️

Today, we are bidding yet another farewell. One of our eatery partners is serving customers for just one more day before closing shop for good tonight. Chan Hon Kee was the first stop on our Tai Po Market Foodie Tour. We love their made-to-order rice rolls with a wide variety of fillings from which to choose. We could never make up our minds between shrimp, bbq pork, beef, pork liver or dried scallops. It was even more special as our participants could peek into their kitchen to see exactly how these delicate rice rolls were made.

In addition to rice rolls, they are also famous for the claypot rice. Just look at the giant menu and you’d have an even more difficult choice to make.

Today, we were amongst a long queue of fans who came to say goodbye. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Wong and their amazing team for serving the community for so long and for so supportive of our Tai Po Market Foodie Tour since it’s inception in 2015. We will miss you! We wish you all the best.

Say goodbye to the Nam Cheong Pawn Shop sign. On our Sham Shui Po Foodie Tour on Thursday, we witnessed the signs being prepared to be taken down. 🥲 Very soon, it will encounter the same fate as the big knife sign of Leung Tim Choppers! These signs were so iconic for this neighborhood for such a long time. For those who have joined our Foodie Tour before, do you remember what the top and bottom part of the pawn shop sign signifies?

You will probably recognize this iconic signage if you have been on our Sham Shui Po Foodie Tour. This is the signage of the 70-year-old Leung Tim Choppers Factory. As requested by the Buildings Department, the sign needs to be taken down. The sign was taken down today and we heard rumors that it will be exhibited later this year.

Indulge in different flavors of mooncake today and savor some exquisite tea. We have four traditional kinds of mooncake here (white lotus, yellow lotus, red bean and five nuts). There are many new varieties as well. As for tea, many associate mooncake with puerh tea but we also like pairing with black tea (紅茶). Check out our sister company Pekoe&Petals Tea for tea suggestion.

https://bit.ly/3ohpxWX

安安,多謝你一直以嚟嘅陪伴!

[Giant Panda An An Dies Aged 35 age]

We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of centenarian panda An An, the world’s longest-living male giant panda under human care, today (21 July, 2022). An An lived a full life that ended at the respectable age of 35 – the equivalent of 105 years old in human age.

An An’s health deteriorated slowly but progressively in the past few weeks with a severe decrease in physical activities and food intake. His condition reached a humane endpoint that based on animal welfare reasons, veterinarians from Ocean Park and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department made the difficult decision to perform the procedure of humane euthanasia on An An after consulting the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda. The procedure was performed at about 8:40am today at An An’s residence in The Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures.

The Park will host condolence books at The Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures. If you are not able to visit in person, you can leave the condolence in the comment section on the pinned post to pay tribute to An An. https://bit.ly/3ohpxWX

An An, thank you for being with us throughout the years!

Our Story

Started by passionate Hong Kong Foodies, our mission is to take hungry souls from around the world on a quest for the best local food that Hong Kong has to offer. Each Foodie Tour is the product of countless hours of research, spent wandering off the beaten path to follow our noses and taste buds. We have tried and tested dozens of restaurants in each neighborhood, sampled dishes, and quizzed restaurant owners, to put together itineraries that showcase locals’ most-loved foods. You’ll get to savor everything from dim sum to egg tarts, roast meat to wonton noodles, Chinese dessert to local seafood.
