A common question from guests is "how far is it to the beach". It's quite close, just a few minutes walk. I sometimes meet the Scuba Shop dive boat at our dock and even with all my gear it's an easy walk. Another way to look at it - there are only 5 houses between us and the beach. Here's a video to help put it in perspective (apologies for the slightly drunken path, my drone was complaining at me about excessive winds at its elevation).

This year we've been busy planting various fruit trees on our double-size lot. We try to have one of each variety up near the house, then duplicates of our favorites down by the creekside. So far we have papaya and apple bananas that are producing regularly. And younger (not yet fruiting) we have mango, guava, avocado, breadfruit, pomegranate, lime and tamarind. Things grow quickly here, so I'm hoping to see fruit from a few of those younger plants by next fall. Guests please ask the gardener to pick the fruit for you if you want some, so that the trees don't get damaged (for example, the apple banana tree dies after a single harvest). You'll also often find that there are watermelon, cantaloupe and various types of peppers in pots around the house.

Posting a 'before' picture. We had our retaining wall pressure washed and as soon as the weather forecast is dry enough we'll be repainting it so that the wall looks as good as the house. There is a lot of wall - two levels in the front, and then it wraps all along the driveway to the top of the hill.

For our birthday dinner party, we asked Erica Marcia Jackson to make us a reef themed cake, and it turned out amazing. Chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and a buttercream frosting. Contact her for any festivities at the house.

We're throwing a little dinner party and Nicky at Everyday Flowers made us this amazing centerpiece. Highly recommended for any of our guests wanting to spruce up an event at the house. My request was "no roses, something with an island vibe" and wow did she deliver.
