Most Roatan SCUBA Diving Excursions are at the west end of the island. But your virtually untouched dive sites are located on the central-north shore typically not visited by other dive excursions. In fact, many of these sites went undiscovered until the dive shop opened up in 2012 and are almost all within 15 minutes from the dock. The topography is extremely varied with slopes, ridges, walls, and sand patches. The boat captain and dive master will determine the 2 best locations of the day. In between the first and second dive, the surface interval will be on the boat where bottle water and a snack will be served. The snack is typically cookies, fresh fruit or cake. If there are any member of your group or family that would like to go along on the boat with you and snorkel while you are diving, please look at our Roatan Pristine Bay Snorkeling and Resort Break Excursion. See the sites in further detail below. Your dive master will assist you with your gear and then lead the group into the water to explore. When your two tank diving adventure comes to an end, the dive excursion boat will return to the resort where you can relax on the beach, dip in the pool, lounge in a chair and just enjoy the resort for approximately 2 hours. There is 2 restaurants that you may purchase food and drinks at before you return back to your Roatan Coxen Hole or Mahogany Bay cruise pier. There will be taxis waiting outside the resort for the return trip. Please download and print the following PADI SCUBA Dive Medical Statement (PDF document) and complete prior to participation in this Roatan 2 Tank Certified SCUBA Diving Excursion. It is required that you bring this completed form and any other necessary notes or paperwork. Pinnacles:
Not only are the pinnacles special but the wall and small cavern make this dive one to remember. Depths of the pinnacles range from 30 feet at the top to 80 feet at the base. Look for the large grouper and barracuda sitting at the tops of the pinnacles and Peterson cleaning shrimp on the way down. This is an easy dive for all experience levels. Depths are from 12 to 85 feet. Shipwreck Reef:
This site is Roatan diving at its finest, offering an abundance of corals and large sponges of all types. It is such a beautiful site you can easily spend the entire dive around the boat and not run out of things to see. Typically, you will find a green moray or two. Watch out for the nurse shark, turtles and eagle rays. Depths range from 35 feet at the mooring to 120 feet. Beginners and the occasional divers, as well as the most experienced, can enjoy this site. This dive site starts out in 15 feet of water and you will drop into a 40-foot trench leading to a short swim through which leads you to the wall at 60 feet. Following the wall to the east, you will find a series of ledges and overhangs at depths ranging from 50 to 85 feet. Following the maze, upward to the top of the reef, you will find schools of chub, wrasses, and most notably black surgeons. Makes for a nice safety stop all the way back to the boat. This is site is very popular for beginners. Shipwreck Discovery:
This snorkeling site offers the wreck of an old steamer, which sits inside the reef in 5 feet of water and shallow coral with sponges and sea fans. Its coral encrusted hull and the patch reef are home to a variety of fish and marine life. You will see a variety of parrots fish, butterfly fish, trumpets and lizard fish. We see eels and stingrays swimming through as well. Around the wreck you can usually find a barracuda and needle nose fish hanging out. Depths of this snorkel range from 4-8 feet. In the sand and turtle grass one can find anemones and an occasional gold spotted eel. This site can be enjoyed by all ages and is one of the most popular Roatan dive sites for families. Channel Reef Adventure:
This snorkel site offers an abundance of starfish of all sizes and colors in the sandy bottom. This unique site offers snorkelers the shallow coral as well as an opportunity to view into the deep channel where you can typically see schools of large chub and other larger fish. Depths range from 4-10 feet in the sandy bottom and patch coral to 50- 60 feet in the channel.
