Znate li što su "piere sbuse"? To su on dva kamena s rupama iznad prozora ili iznad vratiju na južnoj strani fasada istarskih, dalmatinskih i bokeljskih kuća za koja gosti vazda pitaju što su. Najlogičnija objašnjenja koja mi vodiči dajemo temelje se što na podacima iz literature što logičkim pretpostavkama.

Gradske zidine - P**a

Prema podacima Pietra Kandlera obrambene zidine rimske P**e imale su promjer od oko 1600 metara, a u grad se ulazilo kroz 12 vrata, od toga 7 na morskoj južnoj i zapadnoj, te 5 na kopnenoj sjevernoj i istočnoj strani. Srednjovjekovni izvori pak spominju 6 ulaza s obalne (Porta San Giovanni, Porta Monastero, Stovagnaga, Berberina, Badia i Santa Giuliana) i 6 s kopnene strane (Porta Fontona, S. Maria Alta, Gemina (S. Caterina), Ercole (S. Stefano), Rata ili Aurata i S. Margherita).

Vijesti iz tridesetih godina XII. st. kada je izgrađena središnja gradska utvrda na Kaštelu, govore nam o postojanju petero vratiju s mora od kojih jedna van uporabe, te svega dvoje s kopnene. To su bila Zlatna vrata (Porta rata ili Aurata), faktički naslonjena na Slavoluk Sergijevaca, te Porta San Giovanni na suprotnoj strani - sam kraj Kandlerove ulice nadomak današnje Gradske knjižnice i čitaonice P**a. Razvojem novih tehnologija ratovanja bedemi postaju suvišni te su početkom XIX. stoljeća gotovo u potpunosti srušeni.

Ponajviše zahvaljujući talijanskim arheolozima konzervatorima, njihovi su ostaci na potezu od Slavoluka Sergijevaca do Dvojnih vrata tridesetih godina XX. stoljeća očišćeni od naslaga zemlje te rekonstruirani i konzervirani, a u tom obliku stoje i danas tamo.

Istra i freskalno blago romanike i gotike

Na istarskom prostoru identificirano je oko 140 lokaliteta s freskama. Razmještene su po čitavoj Istri, no u većem broju, odnosno s većom gustoćom, nalaze se u unutrašnjosti Poluotoka.

U kući s desne strane živio je kao podstanar James Joyce 1904.-05.g.
Joyce je prvo stanovao u Ulici M. Laginje, bivša via Giulia 2, kao podstanar u namještenoj sobi. Ova je jedna od ljepših jednokatnih zgrada, čiji je ulaz iz glavne pulske ulice, odmah do kultne kavane "Café Commercio" a zatim je zbog toga što stan nije imao grijanja prešao u Medulinsku ulicu bivša via Medolino broj 7. Sobu mu je izdavao Alessandro Francini, nadimkom Bruni, njegov kolega s posla, prijatelj i zamjenik direktora škole.

After a very serious research on several universities in Europe as well as in museums where the materials from the Ancient Roman time has been kept Stipan Ujdur made a 3d mode projection of Roman Colonia Pietas Iuliae and it's Forum. It's not the first 3d project made on this subject but it is presented how it has looked really during the Roman Impery.
