After meeting your English-speaking driver outside your Dubrovnik cruise terminal, you will have a short 10-minute transfer to the buggy base camp on top of Mount Srdj where staff will be waiting to greet you. The staff will go through safety aspects for driving the automatic vehicles (no shifting involved!) and tips on how to ensure you get the most out of your excursion. These are shared, 2 seater vehicles but for those guests wanted to drive by themselves, they may purchase 2 spaces. Once in the driver's seat, start your engines and follow your guide off the beaten track caravan style in your 2-seater buggy. You will have the opportunity to see parts of Dubrovnik's surroundings almost untouched by tourism. No experience is necessary to drive the vehicle! Be prepared to get a little dirty as you drive along winding dirt trails! Duration of the buggy portion of the excursion is 1 hour including photo stops and ends at the top of Mount Srdj at Fort Imperial, a defense that has been guarding Dubrovnik for more than 200 years. Your guided portion of the excursion ends here. Before departing the buggy area, you will receive a one-way ticket for the nearby cable car to take you down the hilltop at your leisure and back to the port area. While you are still on the top, enjoy free time to relax and soak up the amazing views from Mount Srdj, over 1,300 feet above sea level. On a clear day, the view can stretch more than 30 miles. The Fort Imperial Museum is also a good option for guests interested in history. When you are ready, board the cable car for a short but fun ride down the mountainside with panoramic views across Dubrovnik. From the lower station, it is a short walk to the Pile Gate of the Old Town. Guests on ships in Port of Gruz are responsible for their transportation back to the pier at their own expense.
