How's this for some steep vineyards. Plavac Mali variety is known to be able to thrive in some harsh, but spectacular locations.

Sokol Tower, Konavle
Sokol Tower – a historical stronghold at the very edge of Dubrovnik area.
When Dubrovnik Republic bought Konavle in the 15th century, a castellan was appointed to manage the fortress and area. The job wasn't as courtly as the title would suggest given the restrictions it implied for the castellan. Among others, he was forbidden to leave the fort or let anyone in.
At the beginning of the 16th century, a writer named Ilija was assigned the duty. His solitude and boredom took him many places, such as a nearby market fair where he met a young widow and fell in love.

Old City Port Dubrovnik
By simply glancing at the defensive walls and fortifications surrounding the port one can understand its historical importance.
In the old days it was heavily guarded, among other methods, by a heavy chain stretched from one end of the impressive St. John Fortress to the fort of St. Luke on the other side of the bay.
The chain would be stretched across every evening and on any sight of danger, blocking off the entrance to the port. Today the port provides for an impressive statement on the seemingly eternal link between Dubrovnik’s people and the clear blue Adriatic Sea surrounding them. The sea that provided sustenance, safety, and the link to the rest of the world.
