🌟 Celebrating Fažana Parish Day: Honoring Our Patron Saints, St. Cosmas & St. Damian 🌟

Join us in the heart of Fažana as we celebrate the rich history and heritage of our beloved parish on this special day dedicated to St. Cosmas and St. Damian, the miracle-working saints. As patrons of doctors and healers, they are revered for their selflessness and dedication to healing the sick, embodying compassion and faith.

At the center of this celebration is The Parish Church of SS. Cosmas and Damian, a true gem of our community, located just steps from the sea. This beautiful church dates back to the 15th century, originally built in late Gothic style and later enhanced with Baroque elements. 🏰🌊

The church's Gothic portal still stands proudly at the entrance, adorned with a high-relief depiction of its patron saints. The interior features five stunning marble altars and priceless artwork, including a 1598 painting of The Last Supper by renowned Zadar artist Zorzi Ventura.
🎨 A magnificent painting of the Resurrected Christ with Saints by Venetian master Leonardo Corone, dating to around 1590.

Together, we celebrate not only the history of our parish but also the spirit of healing and hope that St. Cosmas and St. Damian represent. ❤️

20th Valbandon Open Under the Baking Lid🎉

On Saturday, we celebrated the 20th edition of the Valbandon under the Baking Lid – our beloved Mediterranean competition of cooking under the čripnja! Despite the weather forcing us to condense the event into one day, the joy, good vibes, and competitive spirit were in full swing!

Under the expert eye of our esteemed jury—Chef Tomislav Špiček, last year's čripnja master Mladen Radošević, and the voice of the people, Milena Pajković Rudan—teams from near and far showcased their skills in this traditional cooking method. Congratulations to this year’s champions, Team Bibići, who took the top spot and trophy! 🏆

Here are the top winners:

Meat čripnja:
1st place: Team Bibići
2nd place: Team Kumovi
3rd place: Team Pineta (Slovenia)

Fish čripnja:
1st place: NK Valbandon 72
2nd place: Team Vajka Žedni
3rd place: Team Svi Gušti

Special shoutout to Team Bibići for also winning the prosciutto-cutting competition under the watchful eye of Milan Buršić. And let’s not forget the "Miss čripnja" award going to Team Pineta (Slovenia) and the "Mister čripnja" title to Team Vajka Žedni.

Visitors enjoyed live music from Funbox and Škico acoustic band, cooking workshops by Zembo and Budimir Žižović, and an amazing watermelon carving demo by Chef Krunoslav Oreški. Plus, everyone got to take home a taste of the Mediterranean by purchasing top-quality local products like prosciutto and locally made olive oil.

Thank you to everyone who made this event unforgettable! See you next year for more culinary adventures under the čripnja! 🍽️🔥
