Komarna is slowly returning to normal. There are no cases of Covid-19 and many have received the vaccine. We feel more safe here than at home in Denmark.

July 11. - Komarna has very few visitors, but many locals and many children and young people this year. Tourists in the north of Dalmatia are increasing, by about 40 thousand a day.
The number of people testing positive for Covi-19 is unfortunately growing. Tracing is pointing to people traveling in from east Balkan and from large gatherings like weddings and sports events.
Strict measures are now implemented to control large groups and organizers are made responsible for the security.
Face masks are mandatory now in shops and other indoor places.
Borders are fully open for EU nationals. You don't have to prove anything at the Croatian border if you're an EU national, but I recommend you fill out the form at https://entercroatia.mup.hr/
It will speed up border crossing and there are special lanes reserved for those who have submitted the form.

June 30. There is a peak in new cases of Covid-19 in Croatia due to cases imported from Bosnia-Hercegovina, Albania, Serbia and Macedonia and a stupid tennis tournament. The cases are concentrated in the north east and in Zagreb. People entering from Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina must self-isolate for two weeks.
About 260,000 tourists are currently vacationing in Croatia.
Komarna is a lovely quiet place mostly filled by locals who enjoys the great weather. There are tourists, but very few.
EU has announced a general release of border restrictions and in Croatia it is still recommended that you register at https://entercroatia.mup.hr/ - submit the form and have proof of paid accommodation.
It works very well. It only took us a few minutes to cross the border.
I will update again if there is a major event.

Croatia is a safe country and one of the few countries that will have a tourism season this year.

In Komarna Konoba Štorija and Beach Bar Uvala is now open. Sea temperature is 20 c and air is 25-27 c

The full opening of internal borders in the EU was expected to occur on June 15, 2020. but no announcement took place. Unofficial information is that the new date is July 1. Denmark and Sweden has both opened fully to Croatia.

The EU Commission has launched an information website on lifting travel restrictions and opening borders (available in all EU languages): https://reopen.europa.eu/en

June 10. Komarna is quiet and there are no new cases in Dubrovnik-Neretva County for more than two weeks.

We are waiting for June 15. to see how much of EU will open their borders.
The borders of Croatia are open for all if they can document reservation and have paid for accommodation. Currently, there are 50,000 tourists in Croatia.
Here is a very interesting and positive description of how the border control works:
https://www.total-croatia-news.com/travel/44164-croatia-border-control

There will be no demands for documentation from tourists from Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany. June 15 may include more countries.

Other foreign citizens may leave their data in advance via the website: entercroatia.mup.hr/Edit - in order to avoid crowds at the border due to data collection. You may also register at the border.

2. juni.

May 19th. Everything is well in Komarna. No one is sick, and there are no new cases in Dubrovnik-Neretva County in almost a week. The weather is fantastic, 26C to 29C in the next week.

Croatia has the situation under control and is continuing a slow opening.
Bars and restaurants are open - also in Komarna where Restaurant Bridge and Café Corny are open.
Beach Bar Uvala and Restaurant Storya will open in June.

There is still limited access across the border unless you own a business or are going to a business meeting. You can enter with a confirmation of rental of a holiday home or hotel, but there is still a requirement that you stay in your accommodation for 14 days.

I will update with news approx. once a week or if there are important developments and until Croatia is open so that we can again welcome guests in Komarna and in Apartment Tedo.

12. May. Life in Komarna is normal. Nobody is sick and there are no new cases in Dubrovnik-Neretva county.
Weather is nice, 23C and sun going to 26C tomorrow. The work on the bridge continues, and you can follow it on this we**am.

Croatia in general has reached the plateau of the curve and has the infection situation under control.
Shops and Shopping malls are open. Preschools and elementary classes from grades 1-4 have started.
People entering Croatia from outsides must still self-quarantine for 14 days, but Croatia opened its border to all EU residents who own property or boats in the country, anyone with urgent family matters and anyone with “business” to attend to.

I will update this short news minimum once a week or if there are major developments and until Croatia is open, and we can welcome guests again in Komarna and in Apartment Tedo.

Status from Apartment Tedo owners and staff.
I will try to give an update once a week to keep our friends and guests informed.

Our small village Komarna is very quiet right now.
Our apartments are all ready to receive guests as soon as the travel restrictions are lifted.

Croatia has handled the pandemic very well and is one of the best countries in Europe to contain the virus spread. Shops and services are open, except in shopping malls. Health services are back to normal and museums and galleries are open.

Local travel: Ferries are running on reduced schedules. Split-Ancone only lorries. No train services.

International travel: Everybody entering Croatia must self-quarantine for 14 days. Airline travel has mostly stopped except for daily domestic flights from Zagreb to Split and Dubrovnik.

Lots of off-season activities in Komarna. Have a look at this article translated from Slobodna Dalmatia:

The little seaside town of Komarna will become become the liveliest construction site in Croatia, as the Pelješac Bridge is completed over the next three years.

We are about to close down for the winter and already looking forward to the 2019 season.
There is however more life in our small village than we are used to this time of year because we are "invaded" by Chinese people preparing to start building the bridge to Peljesac. The Chinese have taken three year leases on many apartments and have taken over the kitchen in Villa Bili for six month where their own cook prepares meals for them.
They will eventually build their own restaurant and a small village of containers up near the main road.
You can't see any actual work yet apart from them setting up offices and fencing in the building site, but by December they will start and are expected to hire 500 workers.
There is an interesting article with pictures in New York Times here: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/11/world/europe/china-croatia-bridge-adriatic-sea.html

A new bridge being built in Croatia, paid for with European Union funds, is a test case for the bloc’s worries about allowing state-owned Chinese firms to compete for major infrastructure projects.
